90 Day Fiancé, the popular TLC dating reality series, has captivated audiences since its debut in 2014, showcasing a variety of unforgettable cast members and their unique romantic journeys. One of the most recognized personalities from the show is Ed Brown, commonly referred to as Big Ed. He first graced our screens in 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days and has since appeared in multiple seasons with different partners.
Recently, Big Ed made headlines for proposing to his fiancée, Porscha Raemond, just 24 hours after they met. In a recent conversation with Page Six, he shared details about his whirlwind proposal and their brief courtship.
“I said, ‘Look, I never want to let you go. I think I met the one. I want to marry you,’ and she said ‘Yes,’ and we hugged and we kissed,”Ed recounted during the conversation on September 19, 2024.
At the moment of the proposal, Big Ed surprisingly didn’t have a traditional engagement ring; instead, he fashioned a ring out of a paperclip.
The Reaction to Big Ed’s Proposal
During his talk with Page Six, the 90 Day Fiancé star mentioned that he was “carrying big sandwiches with sparklers”when Porscha approached him, giving him a heartfelt hug and a “big kiss on the cheek.”
Big Ed expressed that they hit it off immediately and that he felt an undeniable chemistry. He invited her to dinner with friends the following day, which led to his proposal. He mentioned that when he got down on one knee, “everyone”around them was in shock.
After Porscha accepted his proposal, they spent the entire night “kissing and smoothing.”Big Ed confided that he was “in love”and assured that he plans to buy her a proper engagement ring in the future, even though he started with a paperclip.
Big Ed also indicated that he wishes to take his relationship with Porscha Raemond slowly, mentioning that they have only shared kisses so far. Furthermore, he addressed his family’s skepticism about the engagement, as they viewed it as a potential publicity stunt. However, he clarified that his feelings were genuine, stating,
“For my family, everyone is freaking out, including my daughter. But in my heart…I can’t wait,”said the former cast member of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days.
Big Ed’s Previous Relationship with Liz Woods
Previously, Big Ed was in a relationship with Liz Woods, a fellow cast member from the TLC franchise’s Happily Ever After? spin-off. They were set to marry, but Ed called off their wedding just days before the ceremony. The breakup stemmed from an argument over tacos, which ultimately led to Ed ending their relationship.
In an episode that aired in April 2024, Ed shared that he was aware Liz was waiting for an apology call from him, but he did not intend to reach out. He reflected on how their relationship had seen “14 breakups”in total.
Ed explained that this recent breakup felt different and that he bore no anger towards Liz, coming to the realization that they were not “meant to be together.”
According to Liz, after their argument, she went to bed only to wake up to find Ed had left. She received a text from their officiant informing her that the wedding was off, confirming that Ed had canceled the wedding without notifying her.
90 Day Fiancé is currently airing new seasons of Before the 90 Days and The Other Way on TLC.
