Cardi B Responds Fiercely to Non-Payment Lawsuit Over Mansion Featured in Music Video, Fans Say “She Got Receipts for Days”

Cardi B is addressing a lawsuit filed by a homeowner, who claims that she and Offset did not compensate him for using his residence in their “Like What”music video. Cardi B provided evidence of payments on her X account, prompting various online reactions. According to TMZ, the couple is being sued for allegedly failing to pay for the Beverly Hills mansion featured in the video.

Court documents allege that Cardi B, Offset, and their teams deceived the homeowner by using the house for a seemingly minor TikTok video. The plaintiff asserts that after being informed of this, he waived the standard short-term rental fee.

The homeowner is now seeking $35,000 in damages.

Following the rise of the lawsuit on social media, Cardi B took to her X account to publicly challenge the homeowner. She shared multiple text message exchanges with Offset along with a screenshot of a $4,500 payment. In the messages, it was disclosed that the couple was aware of the $10,000 rental fee, in addition to a cleaning charge. The “Up”artist stated online:

“We paid those people $10,000 IN CASH to rent the property for a whole 24 hours that same day from 6 AM to 6 AM the next morning, and we went over by ONE hour, for which we paid overage fees to the realtor in March.”

Social media users expressed admiration for Cardi B’s evidence of the payment and other documentation. Comments included:

“The way a Libra keeps receipts. You should never try us. We have receipts from before we were even born. It’s not a game,” an X user stated.

“I don’t know why they keep playing with Cardi like she won’t post RECEIPTS,” another user remarked.

As the lawsuit names both Cardi B and Offset, the couple is simultaneously navigating a divorce while also welcoming their third child together. Other reactions included:

“ALWAYS COMING WITH RECEIPTS!! SHUT IT DOWN, SISTA,” an X user tweeted.

“Period! And go after the legal fees and any damages to your reputation as well. Receipts are a beautiful thing,” another user commented.

“Another defamation lawsuit coming. Ikdr,” a netizen chimed in.

Meanwhile, the “Like What”music video, uploaded six months ago, has garnered over 27 million views on YouTube. Additional comments included:

“CounterSuing for damage to your reputation & emotional distress,” an X user mentioned.

“When everything’s in writing, the truth speaks for itself,” a user asserted.

“That’s right, you’ve got your receipts, baby! Let’s go, girl,” another user commented.

“I’ll see you in court” — Cardi B claps back at the plaintiff on X

The 31-year-old rapper indicated on X that both the realtor and the homeowner present during the shoot were aware of the circumstances. Cardi further stated:

“Why would it take us 24 hours to shoot a TikTok? The issue is that people want to find loopholes and take advantage, but IRON YOUR BEST SUIT B**CH, I’ll see you in court!!!!”

In another post, Cardi mentioned that the realtor should not be blamed for the current legal disputes. She added:

“It’s them greedy owners with their ugly a*s house.”

In a subsequent tweet, Cardi quipped, “Don’t make me put my litigation wig on.” Fans are eager to see how this lawsuit unfolds.
