Who is Teny Geragos? Diddy’s Lawyer Claims the Rapper Has Not Committed Any Crimes

Teny Geragos, attorney for Diddy, recently addressed the rapper’s arrest and the subsequent charges against him, insisting on his client’s innocence. The arrest occurred on September 16, 2024, a fact confirmed by U.S. Attorney Damian Williams during a press conference.

Teny Geragos is the founding partner of Agnifilio Intrater LLP and is well-known for her expertise in sexual misconduct cases. She appeared on the Cuomo show the day after Diddy was apprehended and stated:

“A lifestyle and being present at activities doesn’t mean he committed a crime. … The lifestyle is not criminal. They never once said that these women didn’t consent to what happened.”

Geragos further asserted that minors were not victims in the case resulting in Diddy’s arrest. She emphasized that her client was not guilty of any wrongdoing, adding:

“Maybe it’s not what someone here would do in the bedroom.”

Having previously worked for eight years at Brafman & Associates, P.C., Geragos has represented many cases related to sexual assault, securities fraud, wire fraud, public corruption, tax evasion, narcotics, and violations of the FCPA. Many of her clients have been victims of sexual violence.

She is also on the Board of Directors of the New York Criminal Bar Association and has been involved in various investigations in the construction and healthcare sectors. Notably, she was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star for five consecutive years.

Diddy pleads not guilty to the charges against him

Also known as Sean Love Combs, Diddy appeared for a trial on September 17, 2024, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of human trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution. His legal team’s request for bail was denied by the court.

The situation escalated when Page Six revealed a grand jury indictment associated with raids conducted at Diddy’s residences in March. The indictment states that authorities found evidence linked to alleged sexual events termed “Freak Off.”

“In or about March 2024, during searches of Combs’ residences in Miami, Florida, and Los Angeles, California, law enforcement seized various supplies related to Freak Off, including narcotics and over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant.”

The documents indicated that hotel rooms were booked for these events, and while various items, including controlled substances, were involved, Diddy’s staff were instructed to clean the rooms to evade complications.

The indictment suggests that Combs allegedly “maintained control”over the victims through various methods, such as monitoring their movements and threatening to withdraw financial support. The indictment states that the victims were purportedly mistreated by Combs and added:

“Victims believed they could not refuse Combs’ demands without risking their financial or job security or facing potential physical or emotional abuse.”

According to People magazine, another attorney for Diddy, Marc Agnifilo, issued a statement regarding the rapper’s arrest, asserting that Diddy deserved commendation for seeking help at 54 years old. He further noted that Diddy was undergoing “treatment and therapy,”though he withheld additional details.

During the trial, prosecutors argued that viral footage of Diddy allegedly assaulting Cassie Ventura provided sufficient grounds to deny his release. This footage was first revealed by CNN in May 2024, prompting widespread criticism.
