XDefiant Season 2: New Faction, Maps, Ranked Rewards, and Game Modes

Introducing the New Highwaymen Faction

Ubisoft has officially introduced the exciting new Highwaymen faction coming in XDefiant Season 2. Players can expect a variety of unique features, such as the faction’s passive trait Revved, which enhances fire rates and reload speeds for consecutive kills.

This faction hails from Far Cry: New Dawn, and the infamous twin sisters Mickey and Lou lead the charge. The official announcement from Ubisoft outlines their formidable abilities:

  • M79 Grenade Launcher
  • Scrap Turret (360-degree mounted machine gun)
  • Saw Launcher (Ultra)

The Highwaymen faction aims to provide a fast-paced and intense gameplay experience with powerful area-control abilities, marking it as the seventh faction introduced into the game upon the release of XDefiant Season 2.

New Maps

The XDefiant Season 2 update will feature three new maps. One of these maps draws inspiration from Far Cry: New Dawn and will be released first, while the other two will follow later in the season. The confirmed maps include:

  • Waterfront
  • Signal
  • Air & Space

Among these, **Waterfront** will debut first and is directly based on the Highwaymen’s home game, Far Cry: New Dawn, set in the post-apocalyptic landscape of Hope County, Montana. Additionally, we will finally see the much-anticipated **Signal** map that was teased back in May 2024. The **Air & Space** map promises to deliver an exciting new environment for players to explore.

Ranked Rewards

As always, XDefiant Season 2 will come with a host of brand-new ranked rewards for players to earn. While neither the blog post nor the announcement video elaborated on specific rewards, viewers did get a glimpse of numerous new skins for weapons and Operators that will be available as part of these rewards.

Additionally, players can expect a new 90-tier Battle Pass, allowing them to claim various free-track items without any cost.

Exciting New Game Mode

One of the standout features of XDefiant Season 2 is the introduction of a brand-new game mode called Bomb. This mode draws inspiration from classic bomb-planting and defusal scenarios popularized by the Counter-Strike franchise. In this arena-style gameplay, two teams will compete to either detonate or defuse a bomb.

There will be two designated bomb-plant locations on each map, with teams switching sides every round rather than playing multiple rounds as one side, which is common in many first-person shooters. The first team to win six rounds will emerge victorious. Initially, the Bomb mode will be featured in casual playlists to help developers collect valuable data and player feedback.

Finally, players can also look forward to the addition of customizable Private Matches in XDefiant Season 2, enhancing the multiplayer experience with friends.
