Matthew from ZEROBASEONE has become a trending topic following BTS leader RM’s reaction to a fan’s comment on the fan community platform Weverse. On September 18, RM was actively engaging with fans on Weverse, just after completing his military service.

During this interaction, RM noticed a fan letter from a user named Julie, who mentioned Matthew, prompting him to inquire:

“Who’s Matthew?”

RM’s response quickly went viral on social media platform X, leading BTS fans to create humorous memes featuring RM, Matthew, and Julie. Later that day, Julie clarified on her X account that the Matthew she referred to in her letter was indeed the ZEROBASEONE member.

Matthew, born on May 28, 2002, is a 22-year-old South Korean-Canadian vocalist and dancer. He debuted with the rookie boy group ZEROBASEONE on July 10, 2023.

Matthew’s Korean name is Seok Woo-hyun, and he secured the third place on the survival program Boys Planet that formed ZEROBASEONE. BTS’ RM Responds to Fan on Weverse & ZEROBASEONE’s Matthew on Mnet Plus Chat

On September 18, Julie, a devoted BTS fan, made a heartfelt post on Weverse as RM was interacting with fans. In her excitement, she mistakenly wrote about Matthew while expressing her admiration for the ZEROBASEONE member.

Julie expressed,

“My dear Matthew, I always want to be by your side. Spending time with you makes my world much brighter and happier. The love and happiness you give me are so precious. Your smile, your eyes, and your voice mean something special to me. Wherever you are, I always think of you, and I want you to be happy.”

Julie’s post received RM’s attention, stirring curiosity among fans about Matthew. Later that day, Julie posted on her X account @seokmyboji to clarify the situation and apologized to both idols and their fans, explaining her mistake in hastily pasting the wrong message while RM was active on Weverse.

She shared,

“In my notes app, I have different copy & paste for different idols and different messages, and I copied the wrong one (with Matthew’s name on it) and I didn’t even check because I was panicking (I love Joon), and boom Namjoon replied and yeah… MY BAD KINGS I LOVE BOTH OF Y’ALL.”

Previously, in April 2024, Matthew hosted a livestream showcasing his Pokémon collection, which was inspired by a fan’s request. Pictures from the session gained significant traction on social media. After the livestream, Julie messaged him on Mnet Plus chat, letting him know he was trending on X and reminded him that she had requested the Pokémon show-off.

Matthew responded, saying,

“I saw your tweet, you should be on our promotion team. Love you sweetheart.”

In other news, BTS’ RM is currently fulfilling his military service and is expected to be discharged in 2025. Meanwhile, ZEROBASEONE recently released their OST titled ‘Reaching for you’ for the K-drama Love Next Door on September 8, 2024.
