The first two episodes of Agatha All Along have debuted on Disney+, providing fans with plenty to dissect. The narrative centers around Agatha Harkness, her magical abilities, and her quest to reclaim what rightfully belongs to her, leading to many inquiries regarding her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s timeline.

One of the primary questions revolves around the Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff. Given that this series is a spinoff of WandaVision, fans are curious if she will make an appearance.
The last on-screen appearance of Wanda was in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, where she descended into an antihero role fueled by rage, grief, and her uncontrollable powers. During the film’s climax, she ultimately collapsed under the ruins of an ancient wizardry temple.
Agatha All Along hints at a potential demise of the character as early as the pilot episode. While ensnared in Wanda’s mind control spell, Agatha encounters a lifeless body exhibiting magical scarring.
In a mortuary scene, a tag appears on the corpse’s toe identifying it as Wanda Maximoff. Agatha even remarks on the witch possessing “scarlet”hair. These narrative clues raise the question: Is Wanda dead?
Wanda Maximoff’s Journey Leading to Agatha All Along
Wanda Maximoff officially entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Avengers: Age of Ultron. She harbored a fragment of power from the Mind Stone, enabling her to manipulate memories, instill fear, and exhibit energy-based abilities emanating from her hands.
Initially opposing the Avengers due to her childhood traumas in Sokovia, she later switched sides upon realizing the full extent of Ultron’s plans. Wanda played a pivotal role in the battle against Thanos, particularly when she had to destroy the Mind Stone embedded in Vision‘s body.
This emotional sacrifice was complicated by her profound love for Vision, ultimately requiring her to kill him to prevent further destruction. Tragically, her efforts were in vain as Thanos wielded the Time Stone to reverse the damage and claim the Mind Stone.
After the climactic events of Avengers: Endgame, Wanda isolated herself in Westview with Vision’s body. Using her mind-control abilities, she trapped the entire town, crafting an alternate reality where she and Vision were a blissful family with two children, Billy and Tommy.
However, faced with adversaries like Agatha Harkness and S.H.I.E.L.D., Wanda was compelled to relinquish her created reality. She banished the magic that allowed her to envision life with Vision and children. In this process, Wanda absorbed Agatha’s powers, fully embracing her identity as the Scarlet Witch.
The devastation of losing her children propelled Wanda further into darkness. She began exploring spells from the ancient mystical tome known as the Darkhold, prompting Doctor Strange to intervene. In a dramatic confrontation, Wanda was buried under the ruins of her temple as she attempted to resurrect her children.
Insights Revealed by the Show
As of the initial two episodes, Agatha All Along reveals minimal information. The opening scene of the first episode depicts Agatha uncovering a body that appears to be a witch, with her fingertips tainted from magic. Notably, she dons a similar tracksuit as Wanda’s from the WandaVision finale.
Upon visiting the body in the mortuary, Agatha observes the redhead, who she refers to as having “scarlet hair,”a direct nod to the Scarlet Witch. A name tag appears on the toe of the corpse, labeling her as Wanda Maximoff.
The show strongly suggests that the Earth-616 version of Wanda is indeed dead, which could explain Agatha’s ability to escape her curse. However, considering the multiverse concept, it’s plausible that viewers may encounter another variant of Wanda in the series.
The residents of Westview seem to harbor fears that even mentioning the witch’s name could lead to her return. Whether she actually does return or merely haunts the narrative remains to be seen. Some fans speculate that the Teen character is actually Wiccan, formerly known as Billy Maximoff reincarnated, potentially providing further incentive for the showrunners to bring Wanda back into the story.
