Defeating the Cloudtreading Deer Boss in Black Myth Wukong: A Complete Guide

Defeating the Cloudtreading Deer Boss in Black Myth Wukong: A Complete Guide

The Cloudtreading Deer stands as one of the challenging final bosses you must conquer to reach the climax of the main storyline in Black Myth Wukong. While it may seem like one of the easier bosses with its predictable moves and low agility, entering this encounter without the proper tools or Vessel can transform it into a daunting experience.

This formidable foe can inflict significant damage through its regular attacks and can conjure Frost-imbued tornadoes in the arena, reducing visibility and causing frost damage swiftly. Moreover, the Cloudtreading Deer goes through two distinct phases, each showcasing its unique elemental strengths.

Fortunately, overcoming this boss is manageable once you identify its weaknesses and leverage the right resources at your disposal.

Effective Strategies to Defeat the Cloudtreading Deer in Black Myth Wukong

Before embarking on your battle against the Cloudtreading Deer, it’s crucial to equip the Plantain Fan Vessel. You can acquire the Plantain Fan after defeating the Yaksha King and completing Chapter 5 (The Flaming Mountains). Unlike the other three Vessels in Black Myth Wukong, the Plantain Fan is not missable.

Additionally, wielding the Loongwreathe Staff and having a fully upgraded Pillar Stance will greatly enhance your chances of success in this battle. Finally, we recommend using Loong Amplification Pills, Tiger Subduing Pills, and Longevity Decoction during the fight.

Here are some strategies to easily conquer the Cloudtreading Deer in Black Myth Wukong:

  • During the first phase, capitalize on your Spells to create openings for damage. Effective Spells include Immobilize, Cloud Step, and A Pluck of Many.
  • Upon entering the arena, rush directly towards the Deer and activate your Spell, preferably Immobilize, when you’re in close range.
  • Ensure you have either the Thrust or Pillar Stance equipped as most damage will be inflicted from a distance; the Smash Stance is less effective here.
  • Once the boss’s health drops below 50%, it will summon Frost tornadoes. Quickly distance yourself from the boss (using Cloud Step to retreat safely).
  • After gaining a medium distance from the Deer, deploy the Plantain Fan to completely annihilate the summoned tornadoes and disrupt the boss’s posture.
  • While the Plantain Fan is engaged, use either A Pluck of Many or Immobilize to inflict damage and retreat once the boss regains its posture.
  • The Cloudtreading Deer will summon tornadoes again; however, if you’re close enough, try using the Pillar Stance’s charged heavy attack to finish the first phase.
  • The second phase is significantly less challenging than the first; however, the boss will now inflict Poison damage instead of Frost.
  • If you possess Antimiasma Powder, utilize it for temporary Poison immunity.
  • In this phase, the Cloudtreading Deer displays limited defense, making it susceptible to charged heavy attacks. You will also have assistance from Zhu Bajie during this phase.
  • To swiftly conclude the second phase, consider using the Red Tides Transformation to inflict Burn damage, as the Cloudtreading Deer is particularly vulnerable to it.
