KBS Critiques Real Madrid for Arbitrarily Cancelling Upcoming Music Bank Concert Without Official Notification

On Thursday, September 19, KBS Music Bank issued a statement on X, condemning football club Real Madrid’s abrupt cancellation of the upcoming Music Bank concert. This highly anticipated event was set to take place on October 12 at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Reports indicate that Real Madrid FC and the administration of Santiago Bernabéu Stadium unexpectedly announced the cancellation of all concerts scheduled at the venue up until March 2025.

The broadcasting company expressed its concern that neither local concert organizers nor KBS Music Bank had received any official notification regarding this cancellation. KBS’ statement highlighted:

“Prior to the publication of this article in local media, the Madrid-based organizers, Sonde3, KOREAN POWER, A.I.E, along with KBS Music Bank from Korea, did not receive any formal notice from Real Madrid about the cancellation of the Music Bank concert set for October 12, 2024.”

The broadcasting company also pointed out that even six days following the initial announcement, no official explanation had been provided. The statement further conveyed the fans’ disappointment and highlighted the financial losses that both fans and the company would incur due to this cancellation.

“Significant disappointment for the eight K-pop groups”- KBS expresses criticism towards Real Madrid over the abrupt cancelation of the Music Bank concert

KBS continued by discussing the impact on the K-pop artists scheduled to perform at the upcoming Music Bank concert in Bernabéu. They noted that the eight groups slated to take part in the event had not received any communication regarding its cancellation.

“The K-pop artists who were meant to perform at the Bernabéu concert are still awaiting confirmation about the event’s cancellation.”

They further added,

“If the concert at Bernabéu is called off, it will bring significant disappointment to the eight K-pop teams and artists who have diligently prepared to meet their fans in Spain after an extensive nearly 20-hour journey from Korea to Madrid.”

KBS emphasized that Real Madrid should take responsibility for the repercussions stemming from the concert cancellation and rectify the damage inflicted on Music Bank’s fifteen-year reputation in the industry.

In conclusion, KBS stated that the production team of Music Bank is open to discussing potential alternatives with the authorities in Madrid and officials at Bernabéu regarding the concert.

They also extended their apologies to the K-pop fans who were eagerly anticipating the Music Bank concert. However, they communicated that if Real Madrid provides an alternative solution and the issue is resolved, the concert could still proceed as initially planned.

As of now, Real Madrid has not yet replied to the statement released by the broadcasting company.
