Bypassing PSN Requirement for God of War Ragnarok on PC

Bypassing PSN Requirement for God of War Ragnarok on PC

God of War Ragnarok has officially arrived on PC, but it comes with significant drawbacks, primarily the mandatory PlayStation Network (PSN) account requirement. Even though this game is strictly a single-player experience, PC players are required to be logged into a PlayStation Network account while playing.

The necessity of a PSN account made sense for titles such as Helldivers 2 and Ghost of Tsushima due to their multiplayer components. However, for God of War Ragnarok, this requirement feels unwarranted.

This PSN log-in demands not only complicate the gaming experience for PC users—who typically prefer not to sign in or use additional DRM—but also deter many potential buyers from purchasing the game. Fortunately, there are methods to completely bypass the PSN requirement for Ragnarok on PC, though they come with important conditions.

How to Bypass the PSN Account Requirement in God of War Ragnarok on PC

To avoid the PSN login prompt in God of War Ragnarok‘s PC edition, players should launch the game in offline mode, completely disconnected from the internet. Here’s how you can do it: log into Steam, ensure the game is updated, and then switch to Steam’s offline mode. For extra assurance, you can also unplug your PC from the internet.

Follow these steps to bypass the PlayStation Network account login in God of War Ragnarok on PC:

  • Open Steam in online mode.
  • Ensure the game is installed and up to date.
  • Navigate to the Steam option in the top left corner.
  • Select Steam > Go Offline.
  • Once Steam is in offline mode, disconnect your PC from any internet connection.
  • Now, launch the game.

By launching God of War Ragnarok while offline, you skip the PSN login entirely and are taken directly to the main menu. However, keep in mind that if you reconnect to the internet and put Steam back online, the next time you start the game, you will be prompted to log into a PlayStation Network account. Unfortunately, there is currently no workaround for this.

You can reconnect your PC to the internet after launching the game in offline mode, but ensure that you do not run Steam in online mode again to avoid disrupting this method. While this process may seem tedious, it remains the only available way to circumvent the unnecessary PSN requirement for Ragnarok.

Additionally, while this offline trick functions with the current version of the game, there’s a possibility that PlayStation and Santa Monica Studios could patch this method in future updates. Should that occur, we’ll revise this article with the most current information and any new strategies to navigate around the enforced PSN integration.
