Robyn Brown Discusses Challenging Relationship with Kody in Sister Wives Season 19

The highly anticipated Sister Wives Season 19 premiered on TLC on September 15, 2024. This reality TV series showcases the unconventional family dynamics of Kody Brown, a polygamist who initially navigated life with four wives and 18 children since the show’s debut in 2010.

Currently, Kody Brown is separated from three of his wives—Christen, Janelle, and his first wife, Meri. Tension is evident in Kody’s marriage with Robyn, particularly during the season premiere where Kody expressed, “Robyn and I are kind of in a struggling place.”

Robyn didn’t hold back during the show’s premiere, acknowledging their struggles. She stated:

“We’re probably doing the worst we’ve ever done in our marriage. It’s been tough. It’s been tough between us.”

Kody and Robyn Discuss Their Marriage Challenges

The first episode, titled The House Divide Cannot Stand, aired on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET. In this episode, Kody and Robyn attended Mykelti’s baby sprinkle, where they encountered Christine after a lengthy separation.

Christine, who split from Kody in November 2021, has since found happiness with her now-husband, David Woolley, as revealed in the show’s trailer. Kody admitted that his breakup with Christine has had repercussions on his marriage with Robyn.

During the premiere, Robyn expressed the increasing difficulty in maintaining her relationship with Kody while managing his emotional turmoil following his divorces. She articulated:

“He doesn’t know who to blame, himself or one of the other wives. Kody’s feeling a lot of rejection. And so, I think he’s kind of looking at me going, ‘Are you going to reject me too?’ I’m on my toes. I’m having to consistently make sure that he is not sabotaging our relationship.”

Robyn emphasized the challenges she faces, stating:

“There’s no resource to help with the idea that I’m still married to a man who’s going through divorces.”

Robyn also revealed that transitioning to a monogamous relationship with Kody has been particularly difficult since she signed up for a polygamous family lifestyle. She had envisioned a life where all the wives and their children lived together harmoniously.

Robyn legally married Kody in December 2014, after he divorced Meri in order to marry her and adopt her three children from a previous marriage.

Despite their ongoing struggles, Kody acknowledged Robyn’s unwavering support throughout their tumultuous journey. He shared in a confessional:

“I love Robyn, and she’s dear to me and I respect her dearly. Her telling me I’m still good is valuable to me. I want to give it more credibility, but I’ve had three other people basically blame me. It’s just not that easy.”

Kody also reflected on his evolving belief system, explaining that the challenges he faced have altered the way he prays. He commented:

“And I can’t go to God and say, ‘Hey, help me through this mess.’ I do. But my prayers aren’t the same kind of prayers they used to be when I was like, ‘Gee, thank you for this beautiful family.’”
