Zita Hanrot Explores Haute Couture in Exclusive Apple TV+’s La Maison

The Apple TV+ series La Maison combines the allure of the fashion industry with the intense drama that comes with managing a fashion house, particularly during times of scandal. Central to the narrative are two pivotal characters: Paloma Castel (played by Zita Hanrot) and Robinson Ledu (portrayed by Antoine Reinartz).

Presented entirely in French, the language synonymous with fashion, the series offers an insightful look behind the curtains of a fashion empire. The intricate relationships among the characters ensure that even those unfamiliar with the fashion realm are captivated by the storyline.

Although Zita Hanrot has long been enamored with fashion, the Apple TV+ original allowed her to grasp the true essence of haute couture. The La Maison actress expressed her newfound understanding:

“And I also discovered what haute couture means and what it’s about. And I think in the series, it’s really beautiful in the way the showrunners and the writers articulated things about haute couture. Like it’s a dream. It’s almost like poetry. And you need time to make haute couture.”

La Maison on Apple TV+: A Backstage Pass to Fashion

Even prior to joining the cast of the Apple TV+ original, Zita Hanrot found the fashion world intriguing. She noted:

“In fact, I always loved fashion you know. It’s in the streets. It’s in the luxury boutiques. It’s everywhere. But I didn’t know the backstage of the fashion world. Like the bad things but also the beautiful things.”

Being part of the La Maison universe enabled the talented French actress to appreciate the extensive planning involved in orchestrating a fashion show. She elaborated:

“And I discovered a whole new world: the people who make the clothes, those who conceptualize the designs, and how they present the clothes on the runway. And how to choose the music. To create something truly beautiful to present the garments to the world.”

Robinson Ledu, as depicted by Antoine Reinartz, is starkly different from his character’s nature. The French actor explained the journey he undertook to grasp his La Maison role:

“It was a long process actually. Especially concerning the outfits. At first, I knew some low-profile designers in France who craft amazing, unique pieces, yet dress in jeans and a white t-shirt. I aimed to embody that. However, as I developed the character further, I realized he’s also very frustrated, pouring a lot of himself into his outfits.”

Even though Robinson Ledu comes from the influential Ledu family within the Apple TV+ original, giving him an edge in the fashion industry, actor Reinartz strove to depict that being a ‘nepo baby’ is not always an easy journey. He reflected in the interview:

“I’m not the son of anybody… yes, I’m the child of two people but not the son of a prominent figure in cinema, for instance. I find it intriguing to demonstrate that such an inheritance comes with its own challenges.”

Don’t miss a new episode of La Maison every Friday until November 15, exclusively on Apple TV+. Alongside Hanrot and Reinartz, the cast includes Lambert Wilson, Amira Casar, Pierre Deladonchamps, and Carole Bouquet, among others!
