BTS Jungkook Makes History as First Asian Soloist to Exceed 1.9 Billion Spotify Streams with “Seven” – Fans Celebrate

On September 16, 2024, BTS’ Jungkook achieved remarkable milestones as his single Seven (feat. Latto) surpassed 1.9 billion streams on Spotify. This achievement made history, marking it as the fastest song by an Asian artist and the fourth fastest globally to reach this landmark. Furthermore, Jungkook became the first and only Asian soloist to attain this milestone in Spotify’s history.

The hit track was released on July 14, 2023, and later featured in Jungkook’s debut solo album GOLDEN, which launched on November 3 of the same year. As its title suggests, the BTS member collaborated with American rapper-singer Latto to produce this popular summer anthem.

With this accomplishment, Jungkook joins an elite group of approximately 40 male soloists who have achieved 1.9 billion streams, including artists like Harry Styles, Charlie Puth, Justin Bieber, Kid LAROI, Drake, and Bruno Mars. Seven reached this impressive figure in just 430 days since its release. Additionally, it also holds the record as the fastest song in history to reach 100 million streams on Spotify.

Within minutes, the news went viral on social media, and ARMYs (BTS fans) began showering their love and appreciation for the global pop icon. One fan referred to the 27-year-old artist as a “King,”

Simultaneously, the track shattered several records with this latest achievement, including becoming the fastest song of 2023 and the quickest debut song to attain this feat. Naturally, congratulations were in order:

Following its release, Seven quickly topped various iTunes charts globally, debuting at No. 1 on both the global and European iTunes song charts. Additionally, it made history by being the fastest song to reach No. 1 in 100 countries, achieving this in just two and a half hours.

By securing the top positions on the iTunes charts in the UK and the USA, Seven broke records as the quickest K-pop track to reach No. 1 on US iTunes. Continuing its success even a year later, in August 2024, the song became the BTS vocalist’s first music to spend 400 consecutive days on the Spotify Global Chart.

As of September 16, it was also recognized as the No. 127 song with the most consecutive days on MelOn’s Daily Top 100 chart at 429 days. Recently, the BTS maknae became the first K-pop solo artist in Spotify history to have multiple songs cross the 1 billion streams mark, with both Seven and Left and Right.

Recently, his tracks Seven and Standing Next To You were ranked at No. 73 and No. 143 respectively on the Billboard Global 200. Expanding his records, in early September, the 3D singer was also honored as the fastest K-pop artist to surpass 7 billion streams across all credits in Spotify history.

Earlier this year, the solo single Seven was even named the most popular song in over 200 countries and regions globally, excluding the United States. This achievement was announced during Billboard’s unveiling of the ‘2024 International Power Players’ list on April 29.

In other news, Jungkook’s highly anticipated documentary film JUNGKOOK: I AM STILL will be released in cinemas worldwide on September 18, 2024. This documentary will showcase the K-pop phenomenon’s journey in creating and promoting his debut studio album GOLDEN, along with memorable moments with fans, leading up to his rise as an international pop star.
