Star Wars Outlaws Sales Underperforming; Upcoming Updates to Enhance Gameplay Experience

Created by Massive Entertainment and proudly carrying the Star Wars franchise name, Star Wars Outlaws was anticipated as a major title. However, this open-world game has not performed up to the expectations of its publisher, Ubisoft. As of the end of August, reports indicate it has sold fewer than one million units, contributing to a notable decline in Ubisoft’s stock prices. In its latest earnings release, Ubisoft acknowledged that the game’s performance was below forecasted figures.

The company noted, “Despite solid ratings (Metacritic 76) and positive user scores on First Party and Epic stores (3.9/5) which attest to an immersive and authentic Star Wars experience, Star Wars Outlaws‘ initial sales were softer than anticipated.”

To enhance the player experience following feedback, Ubisoft announced that their development teams are actively working on a series of patches aimed at refining the gameplay. An update on Twitter from Massive Entertainment confirmed that these updates will introduce “optimization, gameplay refinements, and quality-of-life enhancements, including changes to combat and stealth mechanics.”

Additionally, Massive Entertainment is set to launch the game’s first story expansion, Wild Card, on November 21, where players will join Kay and Nix in a high-stakes Sabacc tournament against the legendary Lando Calrissian. Furthermore, new contracts will be made available for all players at no extra cost.

On the same day, Star Wars Outlaws will be making its debut on Steam. Ubisoft has confirmed plans to release its titles on Valve’s platform on the same day as their launch, including the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which has recently been postponed to February next year.
