“There will probably be lots of deaths … So many series finales suck … I feel lots and lots of pressure to end it well … if we can stick the landing then people will be like, ‘that was a great show’ … but if we shit the bed, people will say, ‘Oh, it was a good show, but then they shit the bed.’ There’s no guarantee of who is going to survive because you don’t have to keep them for another season … we can have really shocking, big things happen all the time.”

By the conclusion of The Boys Season 4, Butcher finds himself unhinged after witnessing Ryan kill Grace, resulting in the fading of his last remnants of faith in supes as Ryan turns back to Homelander. Venturing to the Boys’ safehouse, Butcher confronts Victoria Neuman, utilizing his newfound powers to kill her brutally. He then takes the supe-killing virus, setting off on his mission to eradicate all supes.

Moreover, nearly all the Boys, except Starlight, have been captured by Vought, leaving Butcher unchecked.
