Trump’s Toothless Grin: A ‘Tone-Deaf Draft Dodger’ Profiting from Sacred Tragedies Highlights Senility

Supporters of Donald Trump often express their discomfort with Kamala Harris’s laughter, but have they truly examined their candidate’s actions?

The individual depicted in the image is Edan Alexander, an American soldier with the IDF who was taken hostage by Hamas on October 7, 2023. Currently, Hamas continues to hold Edan along with several other captives. Regrettably, former president Donald Trump has chosen to exploit Edan’s poster as a backdrop for a photo opportunity.

This image was shared by Ben Shapiro on Twitter. He asserted that during Trump’s attendance at the memorial event for October 7 in Queens, New York, he was accompanied by Edan Alexander’s family. Both he and Trump “hope for the prompt return of the hostages.” While Shapiro sought to invoke sympathy, George Conway highlighted Trump’s expression and reposted it on his own Twitter page.

Conway wasn’t alone in his disapproval of Trump’s smile. His silence spoke volumes about the discomfort that Trump’s grin provoked under such serious circumstances. Many users on Twitter expressed that Trump was “utterly indifferent to everything but his own self-promotion.”

Even Republican Critics Are Tired of Trump’s Behavior

A prominent Twitter account known as Republicans Against Trump succinctly described the photo with one word: “Sickening.”This brief yet powerful statement encapsulates public sentiment regarding Trump’s behavior at a memorial event, particularly when hostages still remain unfreed.

Clearly, this is not a moment for smiling; yet Trump seems oblivious to the fact that using a hostage’s image for self-aggrandizement is inappropriate. His actions do not convey a sense of concern for the other hostages. Instead, Trump has managed to disturb social media users with his grinning photo. One would think that it’s a reasonable expectation to demand respect for both the deceased and those still in peril.
