Reasons Behind the Ban of NRG Valorant Coach Chet Explained

Chetan “Chet” Singh, the coach for NRG Valorant, has received a ban from participating in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT). This decision follows his unauthorized broadcasting of certain video on demand (VOD) content that was meant to remain private. However, there are additional details to consider.

This piece will explore the reasons behind Chet’s suspension from the current VCT season and the implications for the future.

Reasons Behind NRG Valorant Coach Chet’s VCT Ban

Chet, who serves as the head coach for NRG, was discovered to have breached the regulations set forth by the Riot Games Global Esports Code of Conduct. He made public VODs that were linked to his role, yet he did so without the proper authorization.

This act is a direct infringement of Riot’s established rules, leading to his exclusion from the VCT. His suspension took effect immediately following Riot Games’ official announcement and will last until the conclusion of the VCT Masters in Bangkok on March 3, 2025.

According to the statement released by Riot, Chet neglected to seek the necessary permissions before broadcasting the VODs to the public.

In light of the allegations and the resulting penalties, Chet took to his official X account to express his views:

“I disagree with their ruling as no damages were done to either party but I can no longer compete until March so until then I will be streaming in the meantime.”

The sentiment from Chet suggests that he believes the punishment is excessive given that he sees no harm has been caused to any involved parties.
