Ranking All Quirks of Class 1-B in My Hero Academia

Ranking All Quirks of Class 1-B in My Hero Academia

As the My Hero Academia manga progresses through its Final War arc, it’s time to delve into some key figures that are making an impact in this narrative. Interestingly, not all of these characters come from the ranks of Pro Heroes or Class 1-A students. The members of Class 1-B have always sparked interest among fans, with several standing out even more than some of their Class A counterparts.

Despite being somewhat sidelined initially, particularly until the Joint Training Arc animated by Studio Bones, the Class B students have showcased their Quirks’ full potential. This revelation makes it an intriguing exercise to rank these students based on their abilities. Therefore, we will explore all the students from Class 1-B in My Hero Academia, analyzing their Quirks, their potential, and how they’ve utilized them so far, to rank them from least to most powerful.

Updated October 18th, 2024 by Jacob Buchalter: Unfortunately, even as MHA draws to a close, it seems the Class B members didn’t get their well-deserved highlights. Only a handful of them, particularly Neito Monoma, played significant roles in the Final War Arc, but overall, Class B was overshadowed by the exploits of Class A and numerous other side characters during the climactic events. While this is understandable given the vast character roster, the unique nature of Class B’s Quirks lends itself to much anticipation regarding their potential development. Nevertheless, let us assess and rank the Quirks of Class B from the least impressive to the most formidable.

20 Solid Air

Kosei Tsuburaba

Despite its intriguing nature, Kosei Tsuburaba’s Quirk, Solid Air, ranks last among the Class B abilities. While it gained him admission to UA High, Tsuburaba’s air manipulation does initially appear underwhelming. However, his performance during the Joint Training Arc illustrated the Quirk’s greater capacity than previously thought. The defining limitation of Tsuburaba’s power lies in his lung capacity; from the Sports Festival to practice matches against Class A, he has fortified his Solid Air from fragile to somewhat durable. However, it remains susceptible to various other Quirks capable of easily shattering it, leaving its long-term development reliant on Tsuburaba’s growth.

19 Cemendine

Kojiro Bondo

Among Class B students, Kojiro Bondo possesses one of the more unusual Quirks, Cemendine, allowing him to expel a glue-like substance from the holes in his head. While this Quirk offers potential for immobilizing opponents, Bondo’s limited experience in combat lowers his ranking. With sufficient training similar to Uravity’s, he could leverage his Quirk to create sticky traps or enhance his melee capabilities. For now, his reliance on distance for combat makes him less favorable in these rankings.

18 Gyrate

Its Kaibara

Sen Kaibara’s Gyrate Quirk, enabling him to spin body parts at high velocities, holds considerable potential but currently lacks full application. He demonstrated capability in combat against Ojiro but remains limited in his approach. Getting creative with his Quirk could enhance its effectiveness. At present, his predominant use as a spinning projectile establishes a lower rank among his peers.

17 Weld

Yosetsu Awase

My Hero Academia-Using-The-Weld-Quirk-To-Fuse-Bakugo-To-Some-Pipes

Yosetsu Awase’s Quirk, Weld, allows him to fuse objects together organically or inorganically akin to metal welding, positioning it mainly for restraint rather than offense. Its unique aspect is that it does not require heat and can bond various materials, broadening its tactical usage. Yet, because it necessitates direct contact with the target, it limits Awase’s combat capabilities, leaving him reliant on hand-to-hand skills, which he must enhance for greater effectiveness.

16 Lizard Tail Splitter

Setsuna Tokage

My Hero Academia - An Example Of Lizard Tail Splitter In Use

Setsuna Tokage’s Lizard Tail Splitter allows her to detach and control her body parts much like the character Zoro from One Piece. While it boasts versatility for evading attacks, its combat application appears limited. Although the Quirk can be creatively employed for mobility and strategic maneuvers, its vulnerability to destructive combat styles makes it hard to rely upon. The utilization seen in battles has revealed areas where improvements are necessary for more tactical efficiency.

15 Poltergeist

Reiko Yanagi

My Hero Academia - Poltergeist Helping Out

Reiko Yanagi wields the Poltergeist Quirk, which enables her to telekinetically manipulate various lightweight objects. This ability is often paralleled with Setsuna’s separate dismemberment control and provides avenues for effective support. However, her current limitations in object mass and inability to levitate herself hinder its full potential. As she improves, there is a massive opportunity for growth, especially after demonstrating improvement during critical moments in the Final War Arc.

14 Big Fist

Itsuka Kendo

Itsuka Kendo, the Class Representative, utilizes her Big Fist Quirk, enabling her to alter the size of her fists significantly. While the initial concept may not seem favorable, Kendo leverages her extensive combat training to great advantage. She adeptly utilizes the weight of her large fists for effective offensive maneuvers, while maintaining maneuverability. Moreover, the vast growth potential for this Quirk could see her evolving into a formidable force as she learns to manipulate larger and more powerful strikes.

13 Horn Cannon

Pony Tsunotori

Pony Tsunotori’s Horn Cannon Quirk grants her the ability to shoot rapid-fire horns that regenerate swiftly. Eight horns can be controlled simultaneously, and their remarkable resilience and support capacity elevate their tactical value in battles. Though it has an amusingly gimmicky concept, Horn Cannon showcases great potential when creatively integrated into combat scenarios.

12 Mushroom

Kinoko Komori

My Hero Academia - Mushroom Girl Looking Worried

Kinoko Komori’s Mushroom Quirk, while seemingly limited, holds tremendous creative potential. With thousands of various mushrooms, each possessing unique properties, Komori can strategically deploy them in combat scenarios. The potential for mushroom-based effects—from hallucinogenic to lethal—provides Komori a plethora of tactical options, particularly in a villainous context. However, her hero alignment keeps her from developing the full range of her Quirk’s repercussions.

11 Razor Sharp

Togaru Kamakiri

With ongoing advancements in his training and clever utilization of support items, Rin’s Quirk has significant growth potential for offensive and defensive applications.

9 Black

Shihai Kuroiro

Shihai Kuroiro’s Quirk, Black, provides stealth and deception. With its main power to merge with shadows, it enables precise evasion and strategic positioning, making it a compelling asset in battles. A properly utilized Quirk, especially with support items enhancing its capabilities, can turn Kuroiro into an invaluable asset in stealth operations or physical confrontations.

8 Size

Yui Kodai

The Size Quirk grants Yui Kodai the ability to manipulate the dimensions of objects, creating possibilities for large-scale attacks or defenses. This unique trait positions her high on the ranking list due to its potential to shift the tide of battle dramatically. Partnered with supportive allies, she can generate massive impactful weapons, bolstering her role as a formidable combatant.

7 Comic

Manga Fukidashi

Among the Class B Quirks, Manga Fukidashi’s is particularly multifaceted. His ability to manifest onomatopoeic words into tangible effects enables him to mimic various heroes’ powers creatively. His inventive application of Quirk showcases versatility, especially in the Final War Arc, where he played a crucial role in protecting his allies and countering various threats. His dynamism in combat allows for a strategic edge that can be hard to counter.

This ability to store and activate additional force makes him unpredictable to opponents, creating tactical diversions. As he grows stronger, his potential for delivering devastating punches amplifies the danger he poses in heighted confrontations.

4 Steel

Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu

My Hero Academia - Tetsutestu Helping Mina

Tetsutetsu’s Steel Quirk allows him to convert his body into solid steel, giving him immense durability and physical strength on par with some of the strongest heroes. This ability provides unmatched defensive capabilities, especially in high-pressure scenarios. He further demonstrates potential growth by improving his heat resistance and showcasing adaptability in the Final War Arc.

Ibara Shiozaki’s Vines Quirk affords her remarkable versatility by enabling the creation of numerous vines for offensive and defensive tactics. Although requiring sunlight and water for further growth puts limitations on Ibara, the potential of her Quirk positions her prominently among her peers.

2 Softening

Juzo Honenuki

My Hero Academia - Mud Quirk Restraining People

Juzo Honenuki stands out in Class B for his tactical approach and extraordinary Quirk, Softening. This ability to alter the properties of inanimate materials allows him strategic domination over battles, enabling him to turn any environment into a trap. Such capacity ensures his effectiveness in varied scenarios, allowing him to handle threats with intelligence and creativity rather than relying solely on brute force.

1 Copy

Neito Monoma

My Hero Academia - Monoma Using Erasure With Aizawa

Neito Monoma, with his Copy Quirk, holds the top position due to its inherently overpowering nature. While not able to use multiple powers simultaneously, he can swap between any of the Quirks he has copied, allowing him to tailor his abilities during confrontations. His recently demonstrated ability to maintain copied powers via physical contact showcases an advantage that can escalate infinitely based on his training and strategic planning in battles like those seen in the Final War Arc.
