NBA 2K25 Guide: Mastering the Art of Flopping

Flopping, a widely discussed mechanic in the NBA 2K series, has made a comeback in NBA 2K25 as an entertaining and strategic element in MyCareer mode. Whether you’re aiming to gain an upper hand in a close game or simply enjoying some laughs with friends, mastering the art of flopping can inject some personality into your gameplay.

However, unlike previous iterations, flopping in NBA 2K25 is not as simple as it once was.

In NBA 2K25, flopping refers to the act of a player dramatically exaggerating a contact to potentially draw a foul. This feature is exclusive to MyCareer mode, allowing your MyPlayer to fall to the ground energetically after seemingly minimal or nonexistent contact.

This animation can lead to humorous moments during gameplay, easing the intensity of the match. Additionally, it can offer a slight strategic benefit by disrupting your opponent’s rhythm.

In contrast to earlier versions of NBA 2K, where simply double-tapping the B button (or Circle on PlayStation) executed a flop, NBA 2K25 introduces a more detailed procedure. Here’s your quick guide to performing a flop in MyCareer mode:

1) Purchase the Flop Animation:

  • Acquire the flop animation for your MyPlayer. In MyCareer, access the Animations menu.
  • Go to the Animations Store and locate In-Game Celebrations.
  • You will find the flop animation classified under NBA Pro-AM Standing or Park Standard. It costs 100 VC; pay to buy it.

2) Equip the Flop Animation:

  • Once you have purchased it, navigate to the Gameplay Animations section.
  • Equip the flop animation in both the NBA Pro-AM Standing and Park Standard categories.

3) Execute the Flop In-Game:

  • With the flop animation equipped, you can now perform it during gameplay.
  • Simply press the down directional button on your controller at any time in the game, whether you’re on offense or defense.

Why Use the Flop in NBA 2K25?

While flopping primarily serves as a fun element, it can be useful in certain scenarios. On defense, a well-timed flop may persuade referees to call a charging foul against your opponent.

However, it’s crucial to acknowledge that the effectiveness of flopping in NBA 2K25 is mostly cosmetic, meaning it won’t necessarily ensure a foul is called. Yet, it’s a fantastic way to lighten the atmosphere, especially during casual or Pro-Am games with friends.

Though flopping may lack the strategic depth of earlier versions, it still provides enjoyment, enabling you to engage in the game in a more relaxed manner.

Whether you’re attempting to trick your opponent or simply indulging in some fun, knowing how to flop adds an additional facet to showcasing your player’s unique personality on the court.
