Carrie Critiques Ellie and Bri’s Work Ethic on Below Deck Mediterranean After Show: “They Were Just There for a Holiday”

The latest episode of Below Deck Mediterranean, season 9 episode 16, highlighted the ongoing tensions between crew members Elena Ellie Dubaich, Aesha Scott, and Bri Muller. The introduction of new crew member Carrie O’Neill has stirred up conflict, particularly between Aesha and Ellie. In the episode that aired on September 16, 2024, Aesha praised Carrie for her efficiency at work, which left Ellie and Bri feeling offended.

During the aftershow, Carrie addressed the situation, stating that Aesha’s feedback was simply “the truth.” She emphasized that she wished for both Ellie and Bri to enhance their pace. Carrie criticized Ellie for taking too long on tasks such as “decorating the ship,” noting that Aesha appeared to be “burnt out” while Ellie and Bri seemed to be acting more like yacht guests than crew members. Discussing their work ethic, Carrie remarked:

“As soon as I saw that, I looked to the other two. The speed wasn’t quite there, and I almost thought they were just there for a holiday more than anything. I didn’t see much of a work ethic there with the two of them.”

Carrie suggested that Aesha wasn’t getting enough rest and had to take on additional tasks because Ellie and Bri were not “stepping up to the plate.” Carrie noted that Aesha was striving to finish tasks quickly, which prompted her to use Carrie as a comparison. Meanwhile, Ellie and Bri expressed frustration over being told to act like a novice “who just got here.” Carrie stated:

“And Aesha, she’s good at her job. She wants to give a good service and do a good job. I could see her not taking rests rather than sacrifice the service, ’cause the other two weren’t going to, you know, I don’t think they were stepping up to the plate, really.”

During the Below Deck Mediterranean After Show, Bri mentioned that Aesha was indirectly labeling them as slow. Bri pointed out that Aesha had managed to rest this season while she and Ellie were working tirelessly, which affected their ability to maintain their initial pace.

Ellie, on the other hand, acknowledged Aesha’s perspective but was displeased that a new member was being used as a benchmark when the rest of the crew had been working hard the entire time. In her confessional, Ellie shared:

“That meeting was demoralizing, actually. I know that Aesha was trying to get us to do better, [but] it just kind of crushed our spirits. I mean, you cannot tell crew members who’ve been busting their ass for the entire charter season that they need to be as fast as someone who’s just got here.”

Aesha clarified her intentions, stating that she did not aim to “crush” anyone’s “spirit.” Instead, she wanted Bri and Ellie to adopt some of Carrie’s admirable traits. Aesha commended Carrie’s quick thinking and work ethic, saying:

“If I started the season with Carrie, I don’t think I would’ve been stressed once.”
