Marvel Strike Force September 2024 Update: Changes for Odin and Mighty Thor Explained

The highly anticipated Marvel Strike Force update is set to roll out today, September 17, 2024, bringing significant changes to both Odin and Mighty Thor. The game’s developers have communicated these modifications to enhance the balance of their abilities, particularly in crucial gameplay modes such as Alliance War and Cosmic Crucible.

This article provides an overview of the complete Marvel Strike Force update as shared by the developers through the game’s official X handle.

Revisions to Odin’s Special Ability in the Marvel Strike Force Update

As previously announced, Odin, known as Asgard’s King, will see adjustments to his special ability to mitigate his overpowering presence in multi-battle formats, especially within Alliance War and Cosmic Crucible. Previously, Odin’s special ability allowed him to clear one Exhaust from himself and allies instantly, regardless of how many Exhaust stacks remained, making him exceedingly challenging to defeat across multiple encounters.

With the new Marvel Strike Force update, Odin’s special ability will still clear an Exhaust, but only when he has fewer than two. This change will provide opposing players with a better opportunity to overcome him in prolonged battles, as he becomes more vulnerable to successive attacks.

  • Old special ability (Neutralize Target): Cleared one Exhaust from self and all allies, without regard to the number of Exhaust stacks.
  • New special ability (Neutralize Target): Clears one Exhaust from self and all allies, but only when Odin possesses fewer than two Exhaust.

Changes to Mighty Thor’s Passive Ability in the Marvel Strike Force Update

The passive ability of Mighty Thor, or Jane Foster, has also been updated to better align with her role alongside other Asgardians. Previously, her passive ability provided Charge to all Asgardian allies, including Odin.

This setup impeded Odin’s ability to gain Ability Energy, which he accrues by losing Charge. With low Charge and high Ability Energy, Odin could activate his Ultimate Ability to vanquish opponents effectively. The interdependency issue called for a reconfiguration of Mighty Thor’s passive ability.

The latest update guarantees that Mighty Thor will now grant Charge only to non-Mythic Asgardians, thus preventing Jane from interfering with Odin’s energy accumulation.

  • Old passive ability (Future Blitz): Provided Charge to all Chargeable Hero Asgardian allies, including Odin.
  • New passive ability (Future Blitz): Grants Charge exclusively to non-Mythic Asgardian allies, excluding Odin.
