Minecraft Bedrock Update 1.21.30 Patch Notes: New Experimental Bundles, Discontinued PlayStation VR Support, and Additional Features

In recent weeks, Mojang has been actively rolling out beta and preview builds for the highly anticipated Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30 update. On September 17, 2024, the official Minecraft 1.21.30 update was launched, bundling all features from the beta and preview releases into this final version.

The standout feature of the Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30 update is the long-awaited experimental bundle feature. After nearly four years since its initial announcement, Bedrock players can now utilize this innovative storage solution. The update also includes various other significant enhancements, such as new rarities for numerous items, improvements to Realms, and much more.

Below are the detailed patch notes for the latest Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30 update.

Minecraft 1.21.30 Update Patch Notes

Experimental Feature

Bundles

The Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30 update makes bundles available to players, eliminating the need to download a beta or preview. Here’s what you should know about this experimental feature:

  • Bundles are classified as an experimental feature; ensure to enable the Bundle experiment when creating a new world.
  • Note: Bundles are still undergoing refinements in the Preview and Betas, and players may notice minor differences.
  • A Bundle is an item designed to store various items in a single stack.
  • Each Bundle accommodates one stack (typically up to 64 items), consisting of mixed item types.
  • Items can be added to a Bundle directly within the inventory.
  • Bundles display a tooltip showing contained items.
  • The tooltip accommodates three rows, providing visibility for at least eight different item types.
  • Users can select any visible item to remove it from the Bundle.
  • Utilize the scroll wheel with a mouse, the right stick on a game controller, or tap on a touchscreen device for selection.
  • When an item is chosen to be removed, the Bundle icon will indicate that item is protruding from it.
  • You can drop the contents of a Bundle onto the ground when holding it.
  • In the latest Beta & Preview version, selecting a Bundle in the hotbar results in one group of items being emptied at a time, rather than the entire bundle.
  • Crafters can create a Bundle with one String above one Leather.
  • The Bundle recipe is unlocked upon acquiring either Leather or String.
  • Known Issues:
  • On touch devices, the wrong item icon may momentarily appear while moving items.
  • Bundles placed in Decorated Pots, bestowed to an Allay, or shuffled through Hoppers and Droppers may lose their contents.

Features and Bug Fixes in Minecraft 1.21.30 Update

Blocks

  • Dragging waterlogged blocks vertically with a Piston no longer generates “ghost water”for players (MCPE-144222).
  • The “purpur_block”is now divided into distinct instances: “purpur_block”and “purpur_pillar”; formerly unused chiseled and smooth purpur blocks were renamed to “deprecated_purpur_block_1″and “deprecated_purpur_block_2″for backward compatibility and will not be visible in creative inventory or commands.
  • The “structure_void”block state has been removed, converting “air”variants to the base block.
  • New vanilla block and item tags have been added to support vanilla item tier level destruction speeds for data-driven blocks.
  • All Logs, Stripped Logs, Woods, and Stripped Woods are considered consistently across multiple scenarios:
  • Flying mobs that can alight on trees will now acknowledge these blocks as suitable landing areas.

  • Previously, these behaviors were limited to only certain blocks.
  • Kelp can no longer be placed on any type of Fence, but must adhere to a specific subset.

  • Unique destruction times have been assigned to various wall types.

Following the final update, players can continue building in their worlds and accessing Marketplace purchases (including Tokens) without PlayStation®VR. However, using PlayStation®VR with Minecraft will no longer be possible in future updates.

Rarity

A new rarity system has been introduced in Minecraft Bedrock:

  • Numerous items and blocks have had their rarities reassigned (MCPE-182414).
  • Once these changes are applied to Java Edition in an upcoming snapshot, item and block rarities will align across both platforms.
  • Rarity serves as a categorization to determine the color used for displaying an item or block’s name.
  • While it has no gameplay impact, rarity signals the relative difficulty of obtaining specific items.
  • By default, every item and block, unless otherwise noted, carries a Common rarity, displaying their name in white.
  • Mojang has re-assessed the rarity of all items and blocks within the game, employing the following guidelines:
  • Items and blocks become rarer based on several criteria:
  • The loot table probability, including mob drops.
  • The distance needed to acquire the item/block.
  • The difficulty of obstacles present in obtaining the resource.
  • The total quantity of that item/block within the world.
  • Craftable items or blocks must adopt the highest rarity of their crafting components.
  • For instance, a Mace is classified as Epic due to one of its crafting ingredients (the Heavy Core) being Epic as well.
  • Subsequent lists detail items and blocks that have been reassigned to specific rarity categories.
