Kevin Liles has recently announced his decision to step down as chairman and CEO of his record label, 300 Entertainment, effective September 30, 2024. He has held the CEO position for approximately 12 years, during which his net worth has grown to $60 million, according to CelebrityNetWorth.
Liles released a statement on his Instagram on Tuesday, September 17, highlighting that his company is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary next month. He expressed gratitude for the support he has received over the years and stated:
“We have leaders like the Bad and Boujee Rayna Bass who can switch between Pushin P and being Savage with No Promises other than excellence. Then there’s the Awwsome Selim Bouab who is Hot regardless of whether in Japan, The London, or From The D To The A. Our whole team is One of Wun.”
Reflecting on the label’s success, Liles acknowledged the challenges they faced in creating a significant cultural impact over the past decade. He elaborated:
“As committed servants of the culture, we know growing and empowering the next generation of leaders is a responsibility, and when the time is right, we pass the torch. As I mentioned above, at 300 we have two of the most talented, home-grown young leaders in the entire industry, Rayna Bass and Selim Bouab.”
Following his departure at the end of this month, Liles indicated that Bass and Bouab will lead the entire team. However, he plans to “consult with the team through the end of the year”and is excited about the next chapter of his life, where he plans to “Listen, Learn, Lead, and Love.”He added:
“I’ll be dedicating all my other time to making history by electing Kamala Harris as the first African-American female President, as well as holding the Senate and winning back the House to make Hakeem Jeffries the first African-American Speaker.”
In addition, Kevin Liles expressed his gratitude to the senior leaders at 300 Entertainment who have contributed to their achievements.

While Kevin Liles is best known as the CEO of 300 Entertainment, the Baltimore, Maryland native has also collaborated with several other reputable record labels throughout his career, including Def Jam Recordings and Warner Music Group.
Born to a mother who worked as an accountant and a father who was a railway conductor, Liles originally studied engineering before pivoting towards a career in music. He was part of a rap group called Numarx in the 1980s.
At 56 years old, Liles has built various ventures, beginning with Marx Brothers, a record label he helped establish. After collaborating with multiple organizations, he founded 300 Entertainment in 2012 alongside Lyor Cohen, Roger Gold, and Todd Moscowitz. During a May 2020 interview with Variety, Kevin Liles discussed his experiences as a CEO:
“With management, you’re a parent and even a pastor in some sense. You’re dealing with everything, not just one or two sides of their business, so I find myself really being what I am to my family: stability, a foundation and an ear to bend when they’re going through something.”
Liles emphasized that the company adapted to the evolving music landscape by providing artists with home studios and utilizing social media platforms instead of traditional promotional methods.
Moreover, 300 Entertainment has collaborated with various other labels like Atlantic, +1, YSL, and Murder Inc. Numerous artists have been associated with the label, including Shy Glizzy, Fetty Wap, Lil Keed, Mary J. Blige, and many others.
