Every day spent on a film set is unique, but there was an exceptional warmth and openness at the Nebula set for “Dracula’s Ex Girlfriend.”Directed by Valentina Vee and featuring Abigail Thorn, I had the fantastic opportunity to be on set for a few days!
Visiting a film set can yield one of two experiences: either a passive observation of the shooting or an action-packed day filled with activities. At Nebula’s set, crew members actively engaged with me, ensuring that I had both a great time and a thorough understanding of the filmmaking process.
During my visit, I witnessed Thorn alongside co-stars Morgana Ignis and Brandon Rogers shooting pivotal scenes in a restaurant. This particular scene dominated our day, yet it was such an enjoyable experience being part of a collaborative atmosphere where everyone worked seamlessly together. I even had the chance to step in as an extra when they required additional background performers!
At no point did I feel overlooked. It’s not uncommon for cast and crew to feel overwhelmed on set, which can adversely affect the filming process. However, at Nebula, everyone made a conscious effort to interact with me between takes, creating a delightful and engaging environment.
My Star Moment
One of the initial ideas for my participation involved being an extra in a lively party scene they were capturing. What thrilled me about this opportunity was the playful nature of being, quite literally, an object on display. Ask me why I so eagerly volunteered, and I couldn’t tell you, but I delighted in watching the film with my face on screen!
The party scene featured everyone mingling and having conversations while the production crew worked diligently on their shots. The vibrant energy was infectious, and we all contributed by being helpful while thoroughly enjoying each other’s company. This collaborative spirit is what truly set this set apart.
Everyone was aware of their responsibilities and dedicated to accomplishing them, but they also fostered an environment that encouraged creativity and fun. This kind of collaboration is often discouraged, yet the uplifting atmosphere on set was a testament to the collective joy everyone exuded. Their mutual excitement about creating something together was palpable.
If you haven’t seen “Dracula’s Ex Girlfriend”yet, I highly recommend taking some time to enjoy Thorn’s film. And if you look closely, you can spot my memorable moment either in the background of the party scene or in the restaurant segment. I promise, I’m there—just squint a bit!
