ADOR Takes Action Against Sexual Harassment Involving NewJeans Amid Legal Disputes with Members

ADOR Takes Legal Action Against Malicious Content Targeting NewJeans

In the midst of a protracted legal dispute with the girl group NewJeans, ADOR is intensifying its efforts to combat harmful online behavior directed at the group. The label is actively pursuing legal avenues to address malicious defamation against the NewJeans members.

Legal Measures Against Defamation

In a press release issued on Friday, ADOR emphasized its commitment to upholding the rights of its artists. “We are actively pursuing legal measures against those who maliciously defame NewJeans members through insults, sexual harassment, and the use of derogatory language,”the statement detailed.

Penalties for Distribution of Altered Content

In addition to its ongoing legal actions, the label disclosed that individuals who distribute or sell manipulated pornographic images of the group will face substantial fines, potentially amounting to millions of won, as determined by South Korea’s Supreme Court.

Zero-Tolerance Policy in Effect

ADOR is adopting a zero-tolerance approach regarding violations of the artists’ rights. The label stated, “We are taking a hard-line stance against violations of the artists’ rights based on our zero-tolerance policy,”reinforcing that they will pursue all necessary actions to gather evidence and hold offenders accountable through the legal system, regardless of the time involved.

Recent Developments Regarding Contracts

The situation has been further complicated by NewJeans members’ recent decision to terminate their contracts unilaterally with ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE, which they announced during a press conference on November 28.

Ongoing Promotions Under a New Name

In response to the ongoing dispute, ADOR has filed a legal motion seeking confirmation that the contracts with the members remain valid. Meanwhile, the NewJeans members are now promoting their individual brands while opting to distance themselves from the group identity, launching social media accounts under the new name “Jeanz.”

This evolving situation highlights the complex dynamics within the K-pop industry as artists navigate personal and professional challenges, all while ensuring their rights and reputations are protected.
