A recent example is the delightful pre-evolution for Vulpix designed by the fan artist qobrosii. This innovation transforms the adorable Fire-type Pokemon into an even cuter baby version, sparking excitement among fans.
Vulpix, a Fire-type creature first introduced in the original Pokemon games, has become a beloved character over the years. Originally available only in Pokemon Blue, players could find Vulpix in locations such as Routes 7, 8, and the Pokemon Mansion. Although it has never had an official pre-evolution, Vulpix evolves into Ninetales when exposed to a Fire Stone. Notably, the seventh generation added an Alolan variant, a stunning Ice-type form with white fur that evolves into an Ice-type Ninetales using an Ice Stone.
Vulpix Pre-Evolution: Fan Art Innovation
Qobrosii’s latest creation, Mikon, embodies a cute young fox with lighter coloring and fewer fur details than its evolutionary forms. Notably, Mikon features three tails, a clever nod to Vulpix’s six tails and the nine tails of its evolution, Ninetales. The community response has been overwhelmingly positive, with the artwork garnering over 450 upvotes.
This isn’t the first time qobrosii has captivated fans with their artwork. Recently, the artist imagined a potential Fire/Poison-type Mega Charizard Z, drawing inspiration from Gen 4’s Zygarde. This concept showcased an alternative Mega Evolution for Charizard while anticipating the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
Earlier this year, other Pokemon fans have also explored creative interpretations of Vulpix. In March, one enthusiast reimagined Vulpix as a grey fox, featuring charming yellow eyes reminiscent of the Canadian Marble Fox.
Another inventive take included an Electric-type variant of Vulpix, characterized by short dark grey fur accented with yellow spots and a lightning bolt symbol. This unique Pokemon also sported a tail resembling a dark cloud. As Pokemon fans continue to dream up exciting forms, the hope is that Nintendo will eventually introduce fresh evolutions or variants of this iconic Fire-type creature.
