Amazing Star Wars Concept Art Reimagines Jeremy Allen White as Rotta The Hutt

In a delightful twist within the Star Wars universe, unconventional concept art has emerged, showcasing actor Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt in the highly anticipated The Mandalorian & Grogu. White, renowned for his role in the acclaimed series The Bear, lends his voice to Rotta, a young Huttlet first seen in the 2008 animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In this tale, Rotta, the offspring of Jabba the Hutt, is captured by the Separatists, prompting Anakin Skywalker and his newly assigned Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, to embark on a rescue mission.

With the return of Rotta in The Mandalorian & Grogu, it appears he may be stepping into Jabba’s shoes following the latter’s demise in Return of the Jedi. Jeremy Allen White, while only serving as the voice for the character, has sparked intrigue among fans, leading illustrator and designer Bryan Ward to share a humorous depiction of what White might have looked like as a fully embodied Hutt.

Although the image is intended to be playful, it does signify the excitement surrounding White’s involvement in the Star Wars saga. This begs the question: will the Hutts play a more pivotal role in the New Republic’s storyline moving forward?

Despite a brief appearance in season 3 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Rotta’s presence has been largely absent from Star Wars canon since his kidnapping. The fate of Rotta has remained uncertain amidst significant events involving the Hutts, including Jabba’s death and Bib Fortuna’s brief control over his palace, culminating in Boba Fett’s assumption of power in The Book of Boba Fett. Nevertheless, the Hutts still maintain some level of influence across the galaxy.

Considering the Hutts’ long lifespan, Rotta is projected to still be relatively young during the New Republic era. Though plot details for The Mandalorian & Grogu remain scarce, White’s casting hints at a potentially enhanced role for Rotta. This raises speculation about whether Din Djarin and Grogu might seek the Hutts’ aid in confronting Grand Admiral Thrawn and remnants of the Imperial forces. The extent of Rotta’s involvement remains to be seen, but the rich lore of Star Wars suggests that intriguing developments are ahead for the series.
