Sunday, October 13, was a significant day for Wind Breaker, marked by the unveiling of a fresh trailer, teaser visual, new staff members, additional cast, and the launch date for the highly anticipated second season during a special event; a video game adaptation of the series was also announced.
The second season of the anime, based on Satoru Nii’s popular Wind Breaker manga, is scheduled to debut in April 2025, following the first season’s release in Spring 2024. The teaser visual showcases the tagline, “The heroes of the town face a new battle,”hinting at an intense showdown between Bōfurin and KEEL.

Introduction of New Staff and Cast
The production of Wind Breaker Season 2 is managed by the talented team at CloverWorks, with many familiar faces from the first season returning. Notable staff members include director Toshifumi Akai (known for character design in Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic), and Hiroshi Seko, who is again responsible for series composition (Jujutsu Kaisen). Character designs will be handled by a duo: series chief animation director Taishi Kawakami (key animation for Evangelion: 3.0 [-46h]) and Yūsuke Tanaka (chief animation director of Vividred Operation), while action direction is in the capable hands of Kazuyuki Asaka (key animation for Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie).
Colour designer Asuka Yokota (colour design for Black Butler: Public School Arc) will now be joined by Kyōko Hara, with Ryō Takahashi returning to compose the series’ music. Yasunao Moriyasu steps in as the art setting supervisor. Additionally, the cast welcomes Ryōta Ōsaka, who will portray Tasuku Tsubakino, a member of the Four Heavenly Kings of Bōfūrin. This new season is anticipated to launch in April 2025. Alongside it, a video game adaptation titled Wind Breaker: Heroic Tales of Delinquents was announced, complete with its own visual and teaser trailer.

The Tale of Heroic Delinquents
The Wind Breaker manga, authored by Satoru Nii, debuted on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app in January 2021 and has been compiled into 19 volumes to date. The narrative unfolds in a high school comprised of delinquents who serve as guardians of their community.
Haruka Sakura, who is solely driven by the desire to interact with the strongest individuals, aims to climb his way to the top. His transition to Furin High proves challenging as he struggles with team dynamics. The first season premiered on April 4 and was concurrently streamed on Crunchyroll. Additionally, a stage play adaptation is set to run in Osaka from January 1-3 and in Tokyo from January 10-19.
