Their friendship, which predates filming, added depth to their performances as they discussed their enjoyment of the realistic sets and the film’s unique blend of genres.

The Friendship That Brought Them Together

Anya Taylor-Joy: [What got me the] most excited, I have to say, is working with this one. Miles and I have known each other for a really long time, loved each other for a really long time, and I’m a really big fan of his acting, so I wanted to work with you.

Miles Teller: I can echo that, absolutely. I think Anya is just a phenomenal actress. I’ve never had that experience before where I already felt like I had a bond with somebody going into a story. The script was incredibly original; nobody’s seen anything like it.

On-Location Shooting in The Gorge

Discussing their experiences on set, Anya and Miles elaborated on the intriguing dynamics of shooting within towering structures that overlooked the gorge.

The Fun Tower

Anya Taylor-Joy: The towers are real. They are fully functional though not as tall as in reality. Miles spent a lot of time in my tower because it was the fun tower. We had music, flowers, and I even had a piano!

Miles Teller: It must be nice living high on the hog over here; I’ve got nothing. [Chuckles]

Anya Taylor-Joy: The beauty of this film is that we shot on location. You can feel the authenticity, which is often lost on sound stages.

Embracing Realism in The Gorge

When it comes to creating an immersive experience, Anya expressed her gratitude that minimal green screen was used during production.

The Challenges of Green Screen

Anya Taylor-Joy: The realism is essential for my performance. Playing against a tennis ball is challenging for me.

Miles Teller: There’s a shot that just got released where we’re on a Jeep being pulled up with a bit of green screen, but it’s still a dynamic scene.

Valentine’s Day Release Excitement

With the film set to release on February 14, 2025, Anya and Miles reflect on why it makes for a compelling Valentine’s Day viewing experience.

Something for Everyone

Anya Taylor-Joy: This film has something for everyone. It’s multifaceted and fun, blending various genres; I had a blast making it and believe audiences will enjoy watching it!

Miles Teller: It’s an excellent alternative to typical love stories. In this movie, the characters go through intense, engaging challenges to find their connection.
