Bad Memory Eraser Episode 15: Sae-yan’s Father Killed Ju-yeon’s Father
Episode 15 of Bad Memory Eraser opened with Lee Goon dealing with the aftermath of his memory reset surgery. As revealed previously, this procedure returned him to his former self, causing him to relive his past traumas, leading to feelings of sadness and isolation from family and friends due to his emotional state.
During this time, Goon’s father visited Ju-yeon to discuss Goon’s condition. Ju-yeon reassured him that creating new, positive memories could help Goon heal. However, a family picnic planned went awry when unexpected rain disrupted their outing.
In their absence, Ju-yeon took the initiative to organize Goon’s room by adding new curtains, lights, and a diffuser to create a comforting atmosphere. Unfortunately, Goon returned home only to find an apology note from Ju-yeon, which he angrily discarded.
Ju-yeon decided to resign from her hospital position, entrusting Professor Han to oversee the Bad Memory Eraser project, as she lacked faith in Tae-oh. She also acknowledged her role in initiating the research, managing Goon’s agency while he was away.
Meanwhile, Goon’s parents recognized their previous mistakes when they witnessed their children’s struggles. After an encounter where Chief Hong belittled Goon, their parents supported him, which positively impacted his mood. They shared a heartfelt drink together, where Goon’s mother expressed remorse for pushing her children towards dreams they never desired to fulfill.
In another subplot, Sae-yan’s mother visited Ju-yeon’s home, searching for her daughter. Despite being in Seoul, her mother told Ju-yeon’s mother that Sae-yan was with her father, causing Ju-yeon’s mother distress as she was unaware of the full extent of her husband’s past criminality, which remained a secret.
This tension escalated when Ju-yeon’s nephew overheard their conversation about Sae-yan’s father’s history. Later, during a medical checkup, Goon learned more about Ju-yeon’s traumatic past linked to her father’s murder, which prompted her to start the Bad Memory Eraser project.
Sae-yan was depicted spending time with her father, who operated a car repair shop. After consuming alcohol he provided, she lost consciousness. He revealed he had been surveilling her across Korea, evoking feelings of discomfort.
A poignant flashback unfolded when Sae-yan arrived at her childhood home, uncovering Goon’s medal and an invitation to an alumni gathering. She remained unaware of her father’s watchful presence.
Donned with Goon’s medal, Sae-yan sought answers at the reunion. Goon spotted her as she placed the medal on a tree. He later followed her to the parking lot only to witness her share a kiss with Shin. Interestingly, Sae-yan’s father became enraged upon seeing this, leading him to plot against Shin, whom he perceived as a threat to his daughter.
He then resorted to blackmailing Shin, using incriminating photographs from an argument on the bridge to jeopardize his career. Furthermore, he threatened Ju-yeon, leaving Sae-yan locked in a room as he pursued his malevolent intentions.
Upon returning home, Ju-yeon’s nephew warned her about Sae-yan’s connection with her father, but Ju-yeon’s mother attempted to shield her from the truth regarding her father’s past.
As episode 15 of Bad Memory Eraser drew to a close, Shin revealed to Goon that Sae-yan had been his first love, not Ju-yeon, by returning the medal he had taken from his locker. Reflecting on his childhood memories, Goon connected the dots, realizing the girl who saved him from drowning was indeed Ju-yeon, leaving him confused about other faces in his past. This marked the end of episode 15.
