Once more, former President Trump is trying to take credit for accomplishments that do not belong to him. Fortunately, Barack Obama has stepped in to counter this self-aggrandizing claim and expressed his disapproval of Trump’s absurd self-promotion.

To give you a bit of context, the unemployment rates skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to numerous small businesses facing dire challenges. In response, the US government rolled out stimulus packages aimed at revitalizing the economy. As noted by Pandemic Oversight, there were three sets of stimulus checks distributed amid the pandemic: $1,200 in March 2020, $600 in December 2020, and finally, $1,400 in March 2021.

These financial aids provided significant assistance to countless Americans in need, yet Trump insists on appropriating this credit for himself. As reported by HuffPost, both Obama and Biden have been actively working to dismantle any justification for supporting Trump in the upcoming 2024 election. During a rally for Kamala, Obama stated:

“Some folks will be like, ‘Well, Donald Trump sent me a check during the pandemic.’ Joe Biden sent you a check during the pandemic just like I gave people relief during the Great Recession. The thing is, we didn’t put our name on it because it wasn’t about feeding our egos, it wasn’t about advancing our politics, it was about helping people. That’s the difference.”

Obama’s assertion rings true. Trump’s decision to brandish his name on the payments was motivated solely by ego, while it was the Democratic Party that championed these relief measures from the start.
