The much-anticipated return of Berserk in Young Animal Jump has fans buzzing with excitement as Chapter 377 is unveiled. Following the passing of Kentaro Miura, many believed the manga’s story would be left unfinished. Fortunately, Kouji Mori and Studio Gaga have stepped in to see it through.
In this latest chapter, the Kushan forces lay siege, having successfully captured the vessel that Guts and his companions aboard within the Black Swordsman Party. Given Guts’ unstable mental state, the group faced dire odds against the Kushan warriors. Their fate might have been sealed, but with Rickert among the Kushans, they received unexpected assistance.
Silat Puts Forth His Strategy for the Kushan Army
Silat takes center stage in Chapter 377. As the leader of the Bakiraka, he awaited the Kurultai with great anticipation, an important gathering for the Kushan empire meant for discussing critical state matters. Clan leaders convene during this prestigious assembly, and it soon becomes evident that many of them attribute Ganishka’s downfall to overlooking the Kurultai proceedings.
Silat eagerly hoped to present his strategies to the Kushan leadership but was interrupted when Daiba was called forward to share insights about Falconia and its forces.
Impatience overtook Silat, prompting him to directly interject with a request to be appointed as the commanding general of the Kushan army. This bold proposal left the assembly in disbelief, as the Bakiraka’s reputation remained questionable, inciting distrust among clan leaders who were reluctant to see someone from his group lead their military. Silat argued that the Bakiraka had firsthand knowledge of Griffith’s capabilities and thus would be better equipped for the conflict ahead. He further stressed the necessity of eliminating Griffith to ensure peace across the Kushan lands.
The Kushan Empire Sets Sail for Invasion
As Silat made his bold claim, the North Clan leader voiced his objections, while those around him pointed out an unusual growth on his back. This disturbance was soon linked to Rakshas, who dramatically emerged and unleashed spikes towards those assembled.
The emergence of Rakshas stirred unrest across the Od in the vicinity, and his presence was quickly sensed by Farnese, who recognized the urgency of the situation. Simultaneously, Guts’ neck mark reacted violently, leading to his awakening, indicating the arrival of a formidable adversary.
The Battle Commences in Chapter 378
Kushan Forces Must Defeat Rakshasa
Rakshas, once a member of the Barikak, was expelled for his immoral actions. He delights in inflicting pain, making him one of Griffith’s most unrelenting followers. Skilled in stealth, he leads the assassination unit of the new Band of Hawk. In his apostle form, Rakshas poses an even greater threat; he gains the ability to fly and his tentacles become immensely stronger, empowering him to manipulate heavy objects easily.
Previously, Silat proved capable of confronting Rakshas but was unable to finish the fight. However, the stakes are higher now—Rakshas has grown stronger, and Silat will need support from allies to defeat this formidable apostle.
Will Guts Rejoin the Fight Soon?
Chapter 377 confirms that Guts remains imprisoned, thus, his participation in the upcoming battle is unlikely. Nonetheless, Guts is recognized as the most skilled warrior in the series regarding battling apostles. He has dedicated himself to confront every monster he encounters.
Possessing extraordinary strength, Guts wields the Dragonslayer with exceptional skill. While this colossal sword dwarfs most, he has mastered its use. Unlike standard swords, the Dragonslayer easily cleaves through the tough carapaces of most apostles, having faced formidable foes like Zodd, Grunbeld, the Count, and others.
Moreover, Guts’ most potent asset is the Berserker Armor, which amplifies his abilities remarkably, albeit with dangerous repercussions when overused. The armor risks transforming him into a primal force focused solely on destruction. Typically, in those moments and at the brink of losing control, Schierke has been there to pull him back, yet she remains in a deep slumber. Should Guts break free from captivity, Rakshas may face an excruciating defeat at his hands.
