The excitement surrounding Black Myth: Wukong prior to its release was palpable, and the action RPG’s sales figures post-launch have certainly validated that anticipation.
As highlighted by journalist Dean Takahashi on Twitter, former PlayStation CEO Ken Kutaragi recently announced at the Tokyo Game Show that Black Myth: Wukong surpassed an impressive 20 million units sold within its first month of being available.
This remarkable achievement positions the Game Science-developed action RPG among the fastest-selling video games of all time. For context, Hogwarts Legacy took almost a year to reach 22 million copies sold (now exceeding 24 million), while The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom accumulated 20.28 million sales over the course of a year, making both games the top sellers of 2023.
Initially, it was disclosed that Black Myth: Wukong sold 10 million units globally at launch. Subsequently, sales escalated to 18 million within just two weeks of release. Currently, Game Science is also developing an expansion for this title.
You can find Black Myth: Wukong available on PS5 and PC.
