BLACKPINK’s Jisoo Delays Birthday Celebrations in Respect of National Mourning

In light of the recent tragedy involving the Jeju Air plane crash, BLACKPINK member Jisoo has informed fans that she will be postponing all birthday-related activities. This announcement was made through her agency, BLISSOO, as they chose to honor the national mourning period that has been declared in South Korea.

Through a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Jisoo’s agency expressed their profound condolences, stating:

“We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to all the victims and their families affected by the tragic passenger plane crash over the weekend. We pray for the repose of the deceased, mourning the victims of the Jeju Air tragedy.”

They further emphasized that in solidarity with the nationwide mourning, Jisoo’s scheduled social media posts and birthday content, which were to be released this week in celebration of her birthday on January 3, have been postponed.

The devastating incident occurred on December 29, resulting in the loss of 179 lives. In response, South Korea has instituted a mourning period lasting until midnight on January 4. This highlights the nation’s collective grief and respect for those affected.

Originally, Jisoo had planned an array of special content to thank her dedicated fans for their support. But in light of the circumstances, she, along with her agency, opted for a more respectful approach.

Beyond her musical pursuits with BLACKPINK, Jisoo is also making strides in her acting career. She is set to appear in the upcoming Coupang Play series Newtopia, which is scheduled to debut on February 7, 2025. Additionally, she will feature in the film Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint and the drama Monthly Boyfriend.
