BTS Breaks Records Despite Military Service

The global sensation BTS continues to redefine success in the music industry, even as its members fulfill their mandatory military obligations. The group’s trajectory is marked by astonishing achievements, most notably with Jimin’s latest single, “Who,”from his sophomore solo album, MUSE.

Jimin’s Chart Triumphs

Jimin’s “Who”has made a significant impact on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, maintaining its position for an impressive 20 weeks. This remarkable feat places Jimin alongside Psy, who reached a similar milestone with his iconic track “Gangnam Style.”

Currently, “Who”sits at #47 on the chart for the week ending December 14, a notable drop from its debut position of #14 in July.

MUSE: A Record-Breaking Album

In addition to Jimin’s single success, MUSE has also made history as the second album by a Korean solo artist to remain on the Billboard 200 chart for 20 weeks. This achievement was previously accomplished by fellow BTS member Jungkook, whose debut album GOLDEN notably charted for 24 weeks last year.

Notably, after 20 weeks, MUSE currently holds the #114 position on the Billboard 200 chart, indicating its enduring popularity.

Streaming Success and Global Recognition

Furthermore, MUSE surpassed one billion streams on Spotify as of September 5, a milestone that the album reached in a mere 48 days following its release on July 19.

In its 20th week, the album also ascended to #5 on the World Albums chart, while Jimin climbed to #70 on the Artist 100, marking an impressive 30 weeks as a solo artist on this chart.

The Future of BTS

Despite currently undertaking his 18-month military service—commenced in December of last year—Jimin’s achievements highlight the enduring legacy of BTS. His fellow members, Jin and J-Hope, have completed their service, and the group anticipates a full reunion by 2026.

“BTS continues to redefine global music standards, even amidst personal challenges such as military service.”

The journey of BTS remains an inspiring narrative of resilience and creativity in the face of changes, making them a remarkable force in the music industry.
