Capcom has generated excitement within the gaming community with its recent announcement of new installments for both the Okami and Onimusha franchises during The Game Awards 2024. The renowned publisher is not only focusing on these two resurrected series but also expressing a desire to revitalize other classic titles that have been long dormant. In recent years, the company has actively engaged fans through various surveys to gauge interest in potential new titles, reflecting Capcom’s deep repository of beloved games.
During the awards ceremony, Capcom showcased a trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, marking the return of this iconic dark fantasy series set in historical Kyoto, with a targeted release in 2026. Additionally, fans can look forward to a new Okami sequel, overseen by the visionary Hideki Kamiya, although a specific release date has yet to be confirmed.

Many fans are eager for Capcom to revisit several of its classic properties. Insights gathered from surveys earlier this year indicated a strong desire for the return of Dino Crisis, a survival horror series that captivates players with its dinosaur-themed gameplay reminiscent of Resident Evil. Other franchises that topped fan requests include the hugely popular Mega Man, alongside games like Darkstalkers, Breath of Fire, and the Vs. Capcom series.
Following the success of the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, a recent survey has suggested that a remaster of Dead Rising 2 may already be in development. Capcom’s commitment to producing new games while also reviving older franchises, coupled with Hideki Kamiya’s return to work on titles from the former Clover Studio, has inspired hope among fans for the revival of beloved games such as God Hand and Viewtiful Joe.
