If you’re holding out for Twisters to be available for streaming, I simply can’t relate. You had the chance to experience it in 4DX and missed it! Fortunately, you can soon make amends by watching it on Peacock. Trust me, you won’t regret this decision.
This film serves as a sequel to the beloved 1997 classic Twister, introducing a fresh team of storm chasers on a mission to discover the secrets to halting a tornado in its tracks. Glen Powell plays Tyler Owens, the unabashed Tornado Wrangler, who partners with meteorologist Kate, portrayed by Daisy Ridley, to assist those caught in the cyclone’s fury. The cast also features Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, David Corenswet, Maura Tierney, and Sasha Lane.
Today, Peacock revealed (and yes, happy birthday to Glen Powell again) that Twisters will start streaming on their platform on November 15. A belated birthday wish to me as well! Even if you’ve been waiting for its streaming release, the anticipation will definitely be worth it, but let’s be clear—it’s still not the kiss cut.
According to a press release, Twisters is characterized as: “Twisters revives the blockbuster disaster genre with a thrilling display of heart-pounding action and spectacular excitement.”After surviving an intense tornado encounter, Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones) leaves her storm-chasing days behind to safely study them from her home in New York City. However, she’s pulled back into the chaos by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) with a unique scientific breakthrough on the horizon. There, she meets Tyler (Glen Powell), a charismatic daredevil and tornado wrangler who has become a social media phenomenon thanks to his adventurous tornado-tracking exploits.
We still need to ask for the kiss cut, though
The film struck a chord with me after viewing—I can’t shake the fact that I adore Twisters. This is an ideal moment to commemorate Glen Powell’s birthday by planning your watch party for Twisters! Don’t fret; you still have time to gather your crew for a streaming viewing. However, it is already available on VOD.
If you opt to watch it on VOD before your streaming rewatch, you can join our crusade! Our cause? #RELEASETHEKISSCUT. (Okay, this might not be an official movement, but why not create one?) During your viewing of Twisters, you may notice two characters who share a strong connection throughout the film, yet they don’t share a kiss. Ironically, they filmed a scene with a kiss between Powell and Edgar-Jones, and fans are eager to see that conclusion to the story.
Perhaps, with its streaming release, we can ramp up the pressure to have it shown in 4DX once more—this time, with the long-awaited smooch. Regardless of the kiss cut controversy, Twisters offers a delightful viewing experience, and I’m thrilled that more people will have the chance to enjoy it! So, gather your friends and mark your calendars for November 15; you can watch Twisters on Peacock and celebrate Powell’s birthday right!
