Korean Celebrities Unite in Support Following Tragic Jeju Air Crash
A number of prominent South Korean figures, including comedian Park Na Rae, actor Im Si Wan, Lovelyz member Jin, and singer DinDin, have stepped forward to donate in support of the families of victims from the recent Jeju Air flight disaster.
Park Na Rae’s Compassionate Gesture
Comedian Park Na Rae has taken a hands-on approach in her contributions by contacting local government officials directly to facilitate her donation. While the precise amount remains undisclosed at her request, the Community Chest of Korea has verified her generous gift.
“I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families grieving the loss of their loved ones,”remarked Park. “I also sincerely thank everyone working tirelessly at the scene despite the harsh weather.”
The funds from Park’s donation are set to support various initiatives, which will include memorial services for the victims, organized with input from the grieving families alongside experts and governmental agencies.
Im Si Wan Offers His Prayers
Actor Im Si Wan, known for his role in *Squid Game 2*, also contributed financially to support the victims’ families. His aid was confirmed by the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association.
“To the bereaved families who have lost loved ones in an unforeseen tragedy, I offer my deepest condolences and prayers,”stated Im.
Support from Lovelyz’s Jin
Jin from Lovelyz has also joined the efforts, expressing her sorrow over the tragic occurrence.
“I learned about the heartbreaking news through the media, and it left me devastated. I extend my condolences to the victims and their families,”she expressed, adding, “I plan to observe a period of mourning and hope others can join in supporting this cause, no matter how small the contribution.”
DinDin’s Emotional Contribution
Singer DinDin has made a notable donation of ten million won (approximately $6,800) to the Korean Red Cross, articulating his sadness for the families affected.
“Every year, I write messages of hope and gratitude to mark the end of the year. This year, however, my heart is heavy,”he reflected. “I hope this contribution can provide even the slightest bit of help as the recovery process will take time. I pray for the souls of the deceased and extend my deepest sympathies to their families.”
Details of the Tragic Incident
The airline tragedy involved a flight that was en route from Bangkok to Muan International Airport, tragically resulting in the deaths of 179 individuals, with just two out of 181 passengers surviving, according to reports from AP.
National Mourning in South Korea
In response to the disaster, South Korea has announced a national mourning period that began on December 29 and is set to conclude on January 4. During this time, many events are being modified to honor the victims.
“To join the nation in mourning, the live broadcast of the ‘2024 MBC Drama Awards’ originally scheduled for December 30th at 8:40 PM has been canceled and will be replaced with a pre-recorded broadcast,”MBC stated. “We pray for the souls of the victims and once again extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved families.”
