Civ 6 Fans Recognize Civilization 7’s New Leader Amina More Than They Realize

For many years, the Civilization franchise has consistently evolved while maintaining its core gameplay mechanics. Each installment introduces new features alongside fine-tuning existing ones. However, the upcoming Civilization 7, set for release in 2025, promises significant innovations that may alter the standard approach of its predecessors.

A noteworthy transformation in **Civilization 7** involves the mechanics of eras and leadership. In contrast to earlier games where players were locked into a single leader and nation throughout the game, this installment introduces a dynamic framework allowing players to select a different leader and nation for each era. This shift necessitates a broad roster of leaders right from the start, and among those confirmed, there’s a familiar face that fans of **Civilization 6** will recognize.

Amina’s Role in Civilization 6

Amina made her debut in **Civilization 6** in November 2022 through the Great Negotiators Pack, which was part of the game’s Leader Pass expansion. This pack introduced several new leaders, including Queen Nzinga Mbande of the Kongo, who replaced Amina as a Great General due to her prior inclusion in the game.

As a Great General representing the Renaissance Era, Amina in **Civilization 6** provided a +5 bonus to combat strength and +1 movement for all Renaissance and Industrial Era land units. Giving players the option to retire her for 1 Envoy allowed for diplomatic strategies, making her an asset for gamers pursuing either Diplomatic or Domination victories.

Amina Elevates to Leadership in Civilization 7

In **Civilization 7**, Amina transitions from a Great General to a prominent leader, complete with her unique model, animation, and voice lines. As the leader of the Aksumite Civilization, she is characterized as both militaristic and economically savvy, with an ability that reflects her powerful legacy.

Born in 1533, Amina was a formidable warrior-queen who reigned over the kingdom of Zazzau, situated in present-day Nigeria. Leveraging the burgeoning trade routes across the Sahara, she conquered multiple neighboring kingdoms, solidifying her robust territory.

Known as the “Warrior-Queen of Zazzau,”Amina’s leader ability grants her +1 Gold for each Resource assigned to her cities per Era. Additionally, she enhances her units’ combat strength by +5 when stationed on Plains or Desert tiles. When facing an AI-controlled Amina, players should be mindful of building settlements in those terrains, as it jeopardizes their diplomatic relationship with her.

Players will have the opportunity to select Amina right from the launch of the game, representing the Aksumite Civilization from the Antiquity Age. This selection will provide the strategic advantage of later choosing the Songhai nation during the Exploration Age.
