ScreenRant: Sonic 3 is absolutely phenomenal! As a long-time admirer of this film series, I’m thrilled at how suitable it is for family viewing. Colleen, as a veteran voice of Tails, what aspect of Sonic and Team Sonic’s journey in this sequel excites you the most?

Colleen O’Shaughnessey: I’m thrilled that Tails is now a crucial member of the team. He’s akin to the guy in the chair from Spider-Man—always ready with gadgets and knowledge to assist when he’s needed.

ScreenRant: Krysten, stepping into the role of Director Rockwell, what was your experience like joining a franchise with such a rich history and dedicated fanbase?

Krysten Ritter: Joining an established franchise was exhilarating! Initially, it felt like being the new kid at school, but the warmth of the cast made me feel welcomed. Jeff, our director, immediately set the tone by emphasizing that we are all one big family. The atmosphere was incredibly inviting and relaxed—a refreshing experience compared to my expectations for such a major production.

ScreenRant: A notable addition in this film is Shadow. Colleen, what is Team Sonic’s perspective on Shadow?

Colleen O’Shaughnessey: Team Sonic is pretty intimidated by Shadow; they have no idea who he is or where he’s from. He’s quite formidable, being the ultimate lifeform, and of course, he swiftly takes down Tails early on, showcasing his power.

ScreenRant: Krysten, what implications does Shadow’s arrival have for G.U.N. and Director Rockwell?

Krysten Ritter: Director Rockwell is cautious about outsiders, particularly aliens, believing they have too much freedom. However, Shadow’s emergence compels her to enlist Team Sonic’s help. There’s an exciting twist in store, showcasing the new character’s badass nature.

ScreenRant: Colleen, the movie touches on themes of chosen families and decision-making. How does this theme manifest throughout the film?

Colleen O’Shaughnessey: Their dynamic illustrates the concept of chosen family. In addition to their sibling-like rivalry, they must navigate teamwork and collaboration as they face challenges together rather than going solo.

ScreenRant: Krysten, having discussed working with Jim Carrey, we anticipate seeing him in a dual capacity in this film. What’s a standout moment you shared with him?

Krysten Ritter: One of my favorite experiences was a physical comedy scene we tackled together. It was exhilarating to perform stunts with the king of physical comedy! We both left the set feeling sore but grateful for the opportunity to work alongside someone I admire so much.
