Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl offers players an exciting arsenal of weapons to tackle the various challenges within the game’s hazardous environment. While many of these weapons are variations of well-known firearms from other first-person shooters, one standout option is the Gauss Gun. While players will eventually acquire the Gauss Gun through narrative progression, there’s a strategic way to obtain it early on in Pripyat. Here’s how you can do it.
Unlocking the Gauss Gun Early from Pripyat
Pripyat is located in the northwestern section of Stalker 2, typically accessible only during the latter parts of the game. However, players can gain early entry by navigating through the Yaniv station. Once in Pripyat, it’s crucial to first unlock the Palace of Culture base. After completing this step, exit the building and turn left along the road until you reach the Prometheus Movie Theater.
Unlocking the Prometheus Movie Theater Door
Upon arrival at the Prometheus Movie Theater, you may find the entrance door locked. It’s important to note that traditional methods for unlocking doors won’t work here, as it’s designed to remain closed until much later in the game. Instead, employ a clever workaround to gain access.
To do this, hold a grenade and aim for the base of the door. Instead of simply tossing the grenade, throw it by pressing LT/L2 on your controller or using the right-click button on a mouse. This will cause the grenade to clip through the door and detonate the debris inside. It may take a few tries, but this method should successfully open the door to the Prometheus Movie Theater.
Retrieving the Gauss Gun Inside Prometheus Movie Theater
Once inside the Prometheus Movie Theater, proceed to the right where you’ll discover a poorly illuminated wooden table featuring the Gauss Gun resting upon it. Simply pick up the weapon, and you’ll be ready to unleash its power without delay.
The Gauss Gun serves as an exceptionally powerful sniper rifle capable of nearly eliminating most enemies in Stalker 2 with a single shot. It utilizes specialized ammunition, which can be procured from Bison, the vendor located at the Palace of Culture in Pripyat. Due to its formidable nature, players are not permitted to upgrade the Gauss Gun; however, routine repairs are necessary to keep it in prime condition.
