Adding Controls to the Control Center in iOS 18
Previously, users had to access the Settings app to add, remove, or rearrange controls in the Control Center. However, iOS 18 has simplified this process significantly.
- First, ensure you’ve installed iOS 18 on your iPhone.
- From either the Home or Lock Screen, swipe down from the top-right corner to reveal the Control Center.
- This action will display the first Control Center Screen (Favorites). You can swipe to access additional screens such as Music, Connectivity, or Home Control Center screens, all of which can be customized.
- Tap on the “+” icon located at the top-left corner to add controls in the iOS 18 Control Center.
- Next, tap on the ‘Add a Control‘ option.
- This will open the new Controls Gallery, showcasing a wide array of native iOS controls you can include in the Control Center. You can navigate through available options or utilize the top Search bar to find specific controls. Third-party controls may also be introduced over time.
- Simply tap on the control to add it to your Control Center.
- You can repeat this process to add multiple controls as desired.
Rearranging and Resizing Controls in the iOS 18 Control Center
- After adding new buttons or controls, you can long-press and drag the corner of a specific control to resize it.
- To adjust the size of existing controls, tap on the “+” icon from the top-left corner to enter the Edit mode of your Control Center, then hold and drag the corner of any control to increase or decrease its size.
- You also have complete flexibility in how the controls are arranged. Simply tap & hold a control and move it around within the Control Center, similar to rearranging apps on your Home Screen.
Adding a New Page to the iOS 18 Control Center
The revamped Control Center in iOS 18 allows multiple control screens, enabling better organization of controls based on their functions. For example, you can dedicate one page for basic tasks and another for managing smart home devices. A long swipe down from the home screen will display a vertical stack of widgets and controls.
Here’s how to create a new control screen in the iOS 18 Control Center:
- Press & hold on any empty space or tap on the “+” icon to enter Edit mode.
- Tap on the dotted circle beneath the Connectivity screen icon to generate a new Control Center page.
- This will instantly open an empty Control Center page where you can tap on the “Add a Control” button to access the Controls Gallery.
- Add as many controls as you desire.
