Optimal Loadout for the Obelisk Operation
Select the Right Arsenal Against Chaos
Your choice of class at the beginning of the “Obelisk”mission will determine your loadout, and it’s beneficial to have diverse class archetypes within your squad:
- Vanguard – Excellent for aggressive plays.
- Bulwark – Ideal for providing defense.
- Sniper/Tactical – Offers adaptability and long-range capabilities.
The Vanguard excels in melee combat and can breach enemy lines with their Grapnel Launcher. On the other hand, the Bulwark class offers valuable protection to teammates, while the Tactical or Sniper classes can strategically eliminate stronger foes from a distance. Additionally, the Heavy archetype can serve as a viable substitute for the Bulwark, allowing for a more aggressive tactical approach.
Although you will acquire various weapons throughout the “Obelisk”mission, consider starting with the following powerful firearms:
Weapon | Type | Advantages | Disadvantages |
---|---|---|---|
Melt Rifle | Primary Weapon |

Bolt Pistol | Secondary Weapon |

Navigating to the Obelisk Control Console
Confronting New Enemies and Exploring
As you enter the “Obelisk”Operation, your first task is to navigate through several enemy groups while heading towards an elevator. During this stage, you’ll encounter a new adversary, the Tzaangor Enlightened, a dangerous Chaos minion capable of blazing attacks from a floating platform.
Although this enemy can be formidable, executing a flashy finisher will help secure your path as your squad makes its way up an elevator to a bridge. Expect an immediate confrontation as soon as you exit the elevator!
Your ultimate objective is to traverse a tomb located beneath the bridge, a remnant of a battleground long plagued by conflict.
The entrance to the tomb is identifiable by glowing blue plants arching around it. Watch out for the dark corruption that pervades this area, causing damage if you linger in shaded spots. Equip a Sacred Relic to counteract the darkness while simultaneously regenerating health for your squad.
While wielding the Sacred Relic, be aware that you cannot engage in parrying, melee attacks, or utilize your primary weapon. Enemy hordes will emerge, making it challenging to fend off attacks during this section.
While shielded by the light of the Sacred Relic, place it on available altars throughout the tomb to regain access to your equipment. This back-and-forth movement of dealing with enemies and repositioning the Relic is a central mechanic throughout the operation.
Once you advance enough, you’ll be able to position the Sacred Relic on an altar adjacent to the control consoles of the Obelisk. Here, two consoles must be reactivated, requiring your squad to manage their positions effectively to avoid being overwhelmed by corruption damage.
Mastering the Rotation of the Obelisk Replica
Exiting the Tomb
After reactivating both consoles, continue pressing onwards through the tomb. Your squad can pause at altars to confront Chaos forces while maintaining a steady pace towards escape. Eventually, you’ll emerge from the tomb, facing the magnificent Obelisk.
Your next task is to synchronize the massive floating islands around the Obelisk by rotating the debris surrounding it. Stand by a Chaos altar to initiate the rotation, creating pathways that restore the surrounding area and allow your team access to the main control console.
Boss Battle Against The Sorcerer
Breaking the Shields of the Heretic
Upon reaching the Obelisk command console, prepare for a fierce showdown with The Sorcerer, a master of Chaos protected by an impenetrable energy shield. To weaken him, you must obliterate the corrupt orbs shielding him, exposing him for direct attack.
Utilize newly acquired DLC weapons to effectively dismantle these barriers. Throughout the battle, the Sorcerer will deploy devastating purple auras beneath your feet, so it’s crucial to be nimble and avoid these AoE attacks. Beware of slow-moving skull projectiles, which track your character and can inflict considerable damage if not evaded.
As the Sorcerer’s shield dissipates, he becomes highly mobile, teleporting unpredictably around the battlefield. Nevertheless, target him with precise shots to ultimately vanquish this formidable foe, allowing your squad to rotate the Obelisk and complete the mission. Concluding the “Obelisk”Operation in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will yield significant XP and an Extermination Rank based on your eliminations.
