Concerns are rising within the community regarding the recently leaked rerun banners for Honkai: Star Rail 3.0. This apprehension stems largely from the disparity in how certain characters are treated compared to others. The turn-based RPG developed by HoYoverse is poised to usher in its third year of updates with Version 3.0, which is scheduled for a mid-January 2025 release barring any delays in the expected six-week patch cycle. The upcoming patch will introduce players to Amphoreus, a captivating new location, alongside a fresh storyline intertwined with the local lore found in The Eternal Land.
Exciting New Content and Character Introductions
The focus of this patch will be predominantly on new content, including campaign missions and a trio of fresh playable characters. Among these is the Remembrance Trailblazer, available to all players who progress through the campaign. Two additional characters, Herta and Aglaea, will also debut as premium units. Despite the anticipation surrounding these new additions, the community is awaiting confirmation on the rerun banners for Version 3.0.
Alleged Rerun Banners for Honkai: Star Rail 3.0
Phase 1 and Phase 2 Character Leaks
Recent leaks, credited to the source Seele Leaks, suggest that Version 3.0 will feature rerun banners spotlighting six characters. Phase 1 is expected to include Jade, Feixiao, and Lingsha, while Phase 2 is rumored to consist of Robin, Boothill, and Silver Wolf. This information was shared on Reddit, and should these claims hold true, players would have the unprecedented opportunity to summon six rerun characters within a single patch.
Robin’s Second Rerun: A Controversial Decision
Timing Concerns Surrounding Robin’s Rerun
The positive news surrounding the Phase 1 reruns is apparent, as these three characters—Jade, Feixiao, and Lingsha—are making their return for the first time since their original releases. This opportunity is particularly appealing for players who did not have a chance to obtain these characters initially. However, there is concern regarding Robin’s inclusion in the Phase 2 rotation. Given Robin’s status as a strong support character, it is no surprise that HoYoverse would opt to reintroduce her, yet the timing feels rather close to her last release.
Robin initially appeared in Version 2.2 in May 2024 and had her rerun in Version 2.5 in September. Given the high number of premium 5-star units currently available, her rapid rerun raises questions about the absence of several other characters who are also due for a comeback. Despite Robin’s excellent utility in team compositions, the quick succession of her appearances potentially overlooks long-awaited reruns for other characters.
Diversity in Reruns: A Call for Inclusion
Spotlight on Long-Awaited Characters
Many older characters are still waiting for their turn in rerun banners, and while not all may possess the appeal of Robin, they certainly deserve recognition. Most notably, Dr. Ratio remains an enigma as he has never seen a rerun since his debut in Version 1.6. This oversight effectively shuts out newer players from accessing a valuable character.
Other characters like Yunli and Jiaoqiu, introduced in Version 2.4, are similarly overdue for reruns. Although they may not dominate the meta, both are valuable assets that should be available for players seeking to expand their roster. Furthermore, Ruan Mei, a pivotal character for Break DMG teams, would also benefit from a rerun in Version 3.0. With the competitive landscape shifting, her presence could significantly enhance players’ team compositions.
While Robin’s repeated presence in banners offers utility for those fortunate enough to obtain her, the frequency of her reruns compared to the lengthy absences of other 5-star characters raises important concerns. As the roster continues to grow, players are left anxious, pondering whether to pull for particular characters before they vanish from Honkai: Star Rail‘s gacha system for extended periods.
