Mojang is set to unveil Minecraft’s highly anticipated spring game drop in 2025, marking the first major release of the year. This update promises to transform the Overworld significantly with a wide array of new environmental features. Since the beginning of January, players have had the opportunity to explore beta versions that introduced numerous new blocks. As the studio progresses into the pre-release stage, no more features will be added for this spring drop, making it an ideal time to highlight the new blocks that players can look forward to.
New Blocks Coming in Minecraft’s Spring Drop 2025
Bush

The bush is a new decorative block set to appear in various grassland biomes, such as plains, forests, birch forests, and hills. Players can break the bush with any tool or by hand to collect it as an item for placement wherever they like. Once bonemealed, these bushes can even sprout onto adjacent grass blocks. Apart from their aesthetic appeal, bushes have a 30% chance of adding a level to a composter when used within it.
Cactus Flower

Another exciting addition is the cactus flower, which will emerge exclusively on top of cacti found in Deserts and Badlands. Players can harvest these flowers both for ornamental purposes and as a dye source. Notably, taller cacti are more likely to produce additional flowers, increasing their utility as decorative items while still contributing to the composter system.
Firefly Bush

The firefly bush, another beautiful addition to the game, will thrive in swamp biomes and alongside rivers. This block will generate firefly particles at night, creating a magical visual effect reminiscent of glowing lights. While fireflies themselves are not included as mobs, this block is a delightful nod to player demand for a firefly experience in the game.
Leaf Litter

One standout ambient block aimed at enhancing the game’s natural feel is leaf litter. Generating prolifically in wooded biomes like dark forests and badlands, these blocks resemble scattered leaves on the ground. They produce a delightful crunching sound when walked over, contributing to the immersive experience. Additionally, they can be used as a fuel source in furnaces, requiring just half an item to smelt one unit, making them practical as well as decorative.
Short and Tall Dry Grass

Diverse in its aesthetic appeal, the dry grass block will also be introduced in the upcoming update, exclusively found in Deserts and Badlands. It features two variants: short and tall, both at a height of one block. Players can plant them on sand, terracotta, or mud blocks, and they can be harvested with shears or silk-touch tools. The bonemeal mechanic can also be applied to encourage their growth, while they can serve a composting purpose as well.
Wildflower

Lastly, wildflowers represent a truly decorative addition to Minecraft’s landscape, populating biomes such as Birch Forest, Old Growth Birch Forest, and Meadows. Structured in layers much like leaf litter, these blocks can be placed on grass and will yield yellow dye, enhancing players’ crafting options for artful designs in their bases or builds.
