Control offers players an expansive array of abilities that can be enhanced to deliver unique gameplay experiences. Among these, unlocking the Levitate ability is crucial for discovering the game’s many hidden locations. Only with Levitate can players access every secret area throughout the game.
Another essential skill is the Evade ability, which requires the completion of a specific side quest. This provides players with access to 19 hidden locations hidden across various sectors of the game. Despite the absence of a traditional map compass, Control cleverly uses environmental cues to guide players to distinct areas. To maximize the benefits of ability points – especially for those pursuing achievements or trophies – players must seek out each of these locations.
Locating All Hidden Locations in Control
The game comprises diverse sectors, each containing various named areas on the map. Players can explore these hidden locations in any order they prefer. As you traverse each sector, prompts will appear indicating successful discoveries of hidden locations – each rewarding players with valuable ability points.
Executive Sector Hidden Locations
In the Executive Sector, players can find three hidden locations. Start by fast traveling to the Mail Room control point. Once you regain control of Jesse, turn right and head north through the corridor. Follow the stairs to the very top, leading to a mold-covered office – this is your first hidden location.
Afterward, retrace your steps, hugging the left wall until you reach two large doors, entering a room filled with nine cubicles. Use the Levitate ability to ascend the cubicle directly in front of you, then glide over to the adjacent one with two orange wires attached.
Next, travel to Central Executive and ensure you have upgraded your skills to include the Ground Slam ability. This move is particularly useful early in the game. Once you’re ready, face the boardroom and locate the staircase to the right. Ascend toward Executive Affairs, where a large monolith sits in the middle of the room. Levitate upwards and execute a Ground Slam onto the top of the monolith to complete the hidden locations within this sector.
Maintenance Sector Hidden Locations
To find hidden locations in the Maintenance Sector, fast travel to the Ventilation control point and follow the signs indicating Janitor’s Office. A right turn will lead you into a room with a large hole in the ceiling. Ascend through this hole to discover a hidden area, and then backtrack to the Janitor’s Office.
Exiting through the door on the left, navigate through the pipes, making turns as indicated, until you reach a large open space with no floor. Here, Levitate along the wall to reveal another hidden location and an exit door for a quick return to the Ventilation control point.
Next, head to the NSC Control Room. Under the signs leading to the Access Corridor, Levitate up through the pipes into a room containing a large generator to uncover another hidden spot.
Fast travel to the NSC Power Plant. Utilize Levitate to reach the tower’s peak, while being cautious of lurking Hiss enemies. After gaining your ability point, return to the control point and travel to the Quarry Entrance control point.
Here, you’ll need clearance level 5. Enter the Black Rock Quarry and look upwards to your left for a passage filled with light. Use Ground Slam to reach this area, and follow it to find a door that also requires clearance level 5. Navigate to the large room and climb into the ventilation pipes to uncover your next hidden location.
For the last hidden location in this sector, return to the Quarry Entrance. Upon re-entering the Black Rock Quarry, take the first left to locate a wall of blocks. Blow through this barrier using an explosive canister and follow the stairs downwards. You’ve now accessed all six hidden locations within the Maintenance Sector.
Be aware that in the Black Rock Quarry, enemies may become invulnerable if you’ve previously completed this area. Make sure your service weapon is upgraded sufficiently to fend off any threats.
Research Sector Hidden Locations
Travel to the Active Threshold control point within the Research Sector and turn around to scan the wall. Spot a gap above and use Levitate to investigate. Once you drop down, continue through an opening to find restrooms. Inside, there will be a hole in the ceiling; Levitate through this passage to reach another hidden location.
Now, fast travel to the Central Research control point. Head toward the doors of Luck and Probability, but veer in the opposite direction to find a large stone window. Jump up and, while on the left cover, Levitate to discover an elevated balcony. Carefully navigate using Levitate and Evade to reach neighboring balconies until you uncover the door marked “79,” which leads to another hidden area.
Completing the puzzle in Luck and Probability rewards you with one of Control’s numerous outfits, so it’s worth your time!
From the Central Research control point again, jump down to the ledge on your right, where you will find windows lining the area. Smash through to reveal a hidden spot. Ascend and navigate to the stone window leading to your first hidden location, then levitate down to observe another balcony, smashing through a glass wall to access a mold-infested room with yet another hidden location.
Containment Sector Hidden Locations
To discover hidden locations in the Containment Sector, fast travel to the Logistics control point. Look up and to the left to spot a large hole in the ceiling. Levitate through to find a hidden area. Once done, follow the signs toward Security. Continue onward to the Panopticon, and once you reach the bridge over the abyss, turn back to see a secret room to the right of your entrance – levitate to uncover this hidden spot.
From here, head to the Panopticon Entrance control point and fast travel to the Upper Panopticon. Move to Section 03 and cross over to Floor 4, proceeding through the door into Fortified Unit 716. Navigate straight until the environment spirals, marking your way.
Backtrack to the bridge, where you will see a hanging platform on your right. Leap across, then Levitate up to the platform above. Ascend the stairs to reach Floor 5 and look for a broken wall nearby – levitate over to inspect this location.
Finally, fast travel to the Transit Corridor control point. Turn around to locate a sign saying NYC Subway. Jump onto the platform beneath it, where you’ll find an opening on the right. Traverse through to a glass wall; breaking through here will lead you to the last hidden location in the game.
