Cyberpunk 2077 has recently expanded its universe with the launch of Patch 2.2, featuring an engaging Balatro-themed quest. Since its initial release on December 10, 2020, the game has undergone significant transformations through ongoing updates, incorporating a DLC expansion, numerous content enhancements, and exciting crossovers with the renowned Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series.
The Patch 2.2 update, rolled out on December 10 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms, has brought forth various new customization features. Among these is the addition of CrystalCoat—a customization introduced in version 2.11—for a broader array of vehicles. Players can now customize vehicle paint for additional models, significantly expanding upon the previous limitation which only applied to Rayfield vehicles. Additionally, the new Kiroshi TwinTone feature empowers players to scan vehicles throughout Night City, allowing them to unlock specific paint jobs for a nominal fee. Vehicles compatible with TwinTone and CrystalCoat are easily identifiable by a spray can icon visible on the Autofixer website.
Patch 2.2 also unveiled a hidden quest, captivating the community by adding depth to the game. In a recent tweet, Radek Grabowski, the global PR director for CD Projekt Red, shared the inspiration behind this intriguing crossover. He mentioned, “Some time ago, I asked the Quest Design team at CDPR: You liked the Cyberpunk cards in Balatro? What if we had Balatro cards in Cyberpunk 2077? Thanks to the talented Quest Designer Maria Mazur, we now have the Balatro quest in Update 2.2.” His acknowledgement of Mazur’s impressive work highlights the collaborative spirit fueling the game’s ongoing development.

Additionally, this quest adds to the plethora of hidden adventures awaiting discovery in Cyberpunk 2077, some of which remain elusive even today.
Following its launch, Cyberpunk 2077 featured a robust offering of 75 side quests, with each update bringing new content, including the Phantom Liberty DLC, which introduced at least 21 additional side quests. This ongoing expansion reinforces the game’s commitment to providing rich narratives and player-engaging experiences.
Cyberpunk has evolved into a significant intellectual property for CD Projekt Red, with plans for a new anime series already in progress. The critically acclaimed first anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, premiered on Netflix, captivating audiences with its thematic exploration of rebellion against societal norms. With its origins rooted in tabletop RPGs, Cyberpunk continues to thrive as CD Projekt Red forges ahead with fresh narratives and experiences.
