This new title aims to provide fans with distinct narratives that draw inspiration more from the games than from Andrzej Sapkowski’s original writings.

Although CD Projekt Red’s game series is rooted in Sapkowski’s literary works, Dark Horse has primarily crafted original storylines for its comic adaptations. Notably, the only direct adaptation from Sapkowski’s texts is in the second volume, Fox Children, which partially interprets the author’s sixth Witcher novel, Season of Storms.

The inaugural issue of The Bear and the Butterfly promises to be an exciting read, featuring a narrative crafted by Simon Spurrier. With The Bear and the Butterfly, Dark Horse marks the tenth series in The Witcher comic library. This release follows the recent five-issue series titled Corvo Bianco, which ran from May to November 2024, and will coincide with the publication of Sapkowski’s latest novel, Raven’s Crossing, focused on a younger Geralt. Released in Poland on December 1, 2024, the English translation is anticipated in early 2025.
