David Schwimmer Describes Terrifying Injury Filming Friends in Front of Live Audience: “He Went Totally White”

David Schwimmer, best known for his role as Ross Geller on the iconic sitcom Friends, has shared a chilling behind-the-scenes experience from the show’s filming in front of a live audience. Although Schwimmer has not typically been associated with horror, he is set to shift gears with his upcoming role in Goosebumps Season 2, premiering on Disney+ and Hulu on January 10. This anthology series, comprising eight episodes, provides a perfect backdrop for Schwimmer to reflect on a particularly frightening incident that transpired while portraying his beloved character, Ross.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Schwimmer recounted a harrowing event involving his co-star, Matt LeBlanc, who portrayed Joey Tribbiani. The incident occurred during the filming of the season 3 episode, “The One Where No One Is Ready,”when LeBlanc performed a pratfall that unexpectedly led to a dislocated shoulder. Schwimmer vividly described the moment, reflecting on how his co-star appeared pale and on the brink of fainting.

During the live taping of the show, [Matt LeBlanc] is supposed to do a kind of pratfall, and he actually dislocated his shoulder. He went totally white, and he stood up, and I could see his shoulder was out. He looked like he was going to pass out.

[I] immediately turned to the camera like, ‘Cut, cut, cut.’ That was genuinely frightening. You could see how badly hurt he was. And we had to stop filming that night, obviously, and he went to the hospital.”Goosebumps has had the actor immerse himself in a menacing world teaming with grisly disappearances, murderously sentient plant life, and unspeakable family tragedy. But as he remembers that moment with LeBlanc, Schwimmer remarks with a shaky chuckle, That was scary.
