DC Unveils First Look at Absolute Flash with a Perfect Easter Egg for Fans

The much-anticipated redesign of the Flash for DC’s Absolute Universe has finally been revealed, showcasing a fresh and innovative look for the beloved Scarlet Speedster. This latest costume marks a significant departure from traditional designs, and fits seamlessly into the broader context of the revamped Justice League heroes within this alternate continuity.

In a recent Threads post, writer Jeff Lemire unveiled his variant cover for the upcoming debut issue of Absolute Flash, collaborating with artist Nick Robles. This cover not only serves as a humorous nod to a classic Silver Age illustration but also grants fans their first glance at the Flash’s stunning costume in this new universe.

The artwork presented by Lemire beautifully captures Wally West’s new design, which is not only visually appealing but also filled with Easter eggs and references old-time Flash fans will appreciate.

The Flash’s Trendy New Look

Jeff Lemire further showcased Absolute Flash’s complete character design on Threads, providing a detailed look at Wally West’s updated costume. One of the most striking features is the incorporation of a streamlined red jacket that resembles the attire of a race car driver, complete with protective goggles and sleek sneakers designed for optimal speed.

In a distinctive twist, this costume shifts away from the traditional red and gold palette typically associated with the Flash. Instead, it predominantly features a striking black and white color scheme, with hints of red and gold woven into the jacket and goggles.

While this enhanced design is a notable departure from the Flash’s usual appearance, it artfully incorporates elements from his past. Notably, Wally’s flowing hair with an open cowl brings to mind his classic Kid Flash look, and the black accents reference his current costume in the main continuity. Despite its differences, this redesign undoubtedly equips the Flash for the superhuman speeds he will be racing at.
