DE:VA Girl Group Faces Backlash Over Racist Comments
Members of the girl group DE:VA, which is expected to debut in the latter half of 2025 under NA Entertainment, are currently under criticism after fans uncovered past racist remarks made by some members. This controversy has sparked significant concern within the K-pop community.
Background of NA Entertainment
NA Entertainment, formerly known as LPA Entertainment, encountered its first scandal in 2022 when the company’s CEO was accused of inappropriate behavior toward trainees. This history of misconduct has set a troubled precedent for the agency as it tries to navigate the current crisis with DE:VA.
Investigation into Members’ Social Media Activity
At the center of the current controversy are two DE:VA members, Mei and Kia. As fans have begun to scrutinize their online presence, colleagues and enthusiasts alike are raising alarms over Mei’s prior racist comments and the controversial Pinterest boards created by Kia.
That girl Ana/mei in de:va said the n word and she’s not black. This person tried to say she was 25% as if that’s a justification of her saying a slur. She also pulled a black girls wig off over a Korean man…..

Apology from Kia
In light of the backlash, Kia has publicly apologized for her previous actions, asking fans for their forgiveness. She expressed her regret in a heartfelt statement, admitting, “I know that what I did is not forgivable. I was a young girl who did not think about her actions and their consequences. I did not understand much about K-pop and how deeply my actions could affect others.”Kia emphasized her growth from these experiences, stating, “I apologize from the bottom of my heart. I have learned from my mistakes.”

Group’s Future Plans
Amidst these controversies, DE:VA announced on December 22 via Instagram that they had parted ways with NA Entertainment and are actively seeking a new agency. This decision comes as they aim to solidify their debut intentions for the latter half of 2025. In this transition, members Alice and Nina have departed, leaving Kia, Mei, Natasha, Karine, and Sylvia to continue their journey as a quintet.
The implications of these events for DE:VA’s future remain to be seen, but the group is under pressure to rebuild its image and regain fan trust.
